The Labour council ruined Wakefield, but just get voted in year after year, decade after decade. Used to be a really nice place in the 1980’s- Leeds was the poorer dirtier cousin, how times change. Battle of Wakefield, near Sandal Castle was where the nursery rhyme Grand Old Duke of York came from. He left the castle and was killed. Decapitated, head on a spike with a paper crown on a spike at York. As you correctly state this changed the future of the monarchy.
