It's an endless topic for discussion 😂 I feel that different riders have different backgrounds. I have never been wakeboarding before kiteboarding, and could have never understood what a 'wakestyle' actually was. Today I look at many riders from other boardsport and try to incorporate their tricks in my riding. However I feel that I don't have much wakestyle in my riding, and you can easily justify this when I am wakeboarding. I look 100% as a kiteboarder with all the little tweaks i learned behind my kite. Anyways, always good to give some idea about all these namings as is confusing a lot of a time. Cheers K

KAROLINA WINKOWSKA True that. Everyone has their own ideas. It is funny, I learned to kite before wake as well. It was only after speaking with lots of wakeboarders that I realized we had different names for tricks. I still get lost on lots of the names! It's all about what you make of it. Personally I think The KPL crew is pretty much carving out what wakestyle kiteboarding is. We're looking forward to seeing more riding & KZbin content from you. - Rygo

it is a completly mute point. there are far more differences between each rider @ a spot under specific wind conditions AND choice of gear than this rather academic expose.

Leonel Fonseca Correct. It's debatable. It's also fun to discuss. That's the whole idea behind this series. To start a conversation and share ideas about kiteboarding. 🤘- Rygo

I think if you were to place freestyle and wakestyle in a ven diagram there would be too much in common for them to exist independently of each other. I think a term like wakestyle should simply exist under the umbrella of freestyle.

Lucca Frieri Well said. I tend to agree. All wakestyle is freestyle, not all freestyle is wakestyle. Basically if it can't be done behind the boat or cable I wouldn't consider it wakestyle. 🤘- Rygo

2:07 I absolutely agree. We really should honour the heritage of tricks and terms coming from other board sports more. Terms like "frontside", "backside", "switch" etc. should be used more (not saying that it is not used at all, but more consequently) instead of making up new words for kiteboarding. Thanks for the video!!

So what category do kite looks, mega loops, big air and old school board off tricks fall into...or do they not fit in any these categories?
@MACkiteboarding5 жыл бұрын
I started writing about that but I didn't want this to be a 15 minute video. I think I'll have to add this to my list! Fist thoughts are they all fall under freeride but also their own category's. I guess one could consider this the big air category. I'll do some homework on that one. Stay tuned. - Rygo

@@MACkiteboarding that's a tough one! Big Air should include them all when done about 10m. As the KOTA its foundation is height. Then GKA Air games throws a spanner in the mix ) #profreerider
