Ok serious question, does caffeine actually effect spiders in real life? I've seen at least 3 depictions of driders getting drunk on coffee, and I don't think that detail came from nowhere.

Idk the exact origin of is but I think it’s from the spiders on drugs video, where they show the caffeine spider going crazy

It comes from an experiment that NASA did where they gave spiders all sorts of drugs and watched them spin webs. The ones on caffeine spun some MESSED UP webs.

They did a study feeding different drugs to spiders (including stuff like meth and LSD). The original purpose was to try and find something that would postpone the spiders' circadian rhythm because one of the researcher's buddies was complaining that his garden was full of those tiny flying spiders every morning, so he wanted them to fly out either earlier or later. They found out that caffeine gets them drunk

It does! Nasa tested different drugs on spiders. On marijuana and most other substances their webs were a bit sloppy but still mostly functional, but on caffeine they went completely wild
