Kanashii means more of "sad" but Setsunai means "sad and painful."

you can use ureshii and kanashii to describe your feelings, they are exclusive, and they have clear definitions. you can say "ureshii" to refer that "I am happy." or kanashii for "I am sad". wakuwaku suru is more like saying "I'm excited/ I can't calm down/ I've been blown away". dokidoki suru is like saying "I'm a bit nervous and excited/ my heart beats fast" Both kinds of expressions are descriptive words for your feelings, you need to choose the right one according to the context. :)

In Japanese, when the speaker says"kanashi" or "sukidesu", it already means that "I am sad"or "I like __".

Think of it like that: when people speak a language, e.g. english they don't really make huuuge pauses between words. The wods kind of flow together into one long whateveryouaresaying. A speaker of english is able to tell what the separate words are. Thats where a lot of foreign people have problems. They cannot separate the words out and thats why they sometimes need you to go slower. Its the same as that, but with writing

@Xtil For this series, we use "Romaji" (using english letters to spell out the Japanese words). It's simply so people who are not familiar with Hiragana, Katakana or Kanji can understand and learn. You won't encounter it very much in Japan, so it would be recommended to at least learn hiragana and katakana

@Falcondick69 there really is no special way of knowing other than learning the words. Eventually it will become easier to recognize and there will also be punctuation along with kanji, hiragana and katakana, so separating the words will be simpler.

@gitcommand うれしい is an adjective. I believe しあわせ is just a noun meaning more like "happiness". Hence the difference. I'm not sure on that, but it can't be too far off

"waku waku suru" and "doki doki suru" is the status of being, not very specific. "ureshii" and "kanashii" are adjectives, they are specific descriptive words.

Kєndαll Sιℓνєя waku waku suru is feeling excited, while ureshii is feeling happy. for example, your friend gave you a present, you could say "ureshii~" or "ureshii desu". another example for waku waku suru is when you're going to a live(concert), "ah! waku waku suru" Waku waku suru is when you're looking forward of something that will finally happen.
