great playing.... ive been looking at the new iriduim core, today.. but... i might just get the key version.i want it to dwell with akai mpc live 2 wondering how or which would suite better for setup...any advice before i possibly waste my money

Thank you!! I don’t really know cause i ‘ve never played the desktop version but if i had a midi controller or a an other synth with a very good keybed i would go for the desktop to save some money :)

I currently have a keyboard version. If you dont mind a lot of menu diving you can go with Core. Unless the aftertouch is decisive for you I would recommend you to go with Desktop version. The notable advantages with the Desktop version are cheaper price space, and more importantly the select keys for LFOs and Envelopes. I fail to understand why they havent provided these keys on the keyboard version. Its annoying on the Keyboard version to go to the menu every-time you want to select the LFOs and the envelopes 3 to 6. I mean yes you can get used to it. But its quite handy to have those buttons there. On the other hand the keyboard is built like a tank. I have had many keyboards and synths and Iridium keyboard built quality is among the top 3. You wouldn't really regret much for the extra price. But as i said i would go with the Desktop version as it has everything i would need and a little more flexibility indeed.

This is the future of synths: Big touch screen, multiple displays, clever user interfaces and workflows, super powered processing, AND CODE. Future generations will outperform this platform at a fraction of the price. At times I hear hazy complex sounds in this video like the processor is doing too much, and sound is getting micro-distorted and micro-lagged. I don't think this is advanced or as clean as it can be in the future. I would return the iridium and wait for next Gen once the 1) coding is more mature, 2) everyone has stolen each other's cool features, and 3) processor power is way better for cheaper.

Great machine but yes you have some valid points :) i ve borrowed the Iridium from a friend to check it out and i really liked it to be honest but its a bit pricy for me at the moment ..

I also struggle with distortion on my Iridium KB. I think it comes from the filters; if the sound source is directly routed to the … ahem … “VCA“, the sound is pretty clean. The Iridium requires careful gain-staging like an analog synth. As soon as I‘ve got my 3rd Wave, I’ll probably sell the Iridium.

@@NicolasMelis Since there is no well-assorted dealer nearby, I use to buy synths after watching >50 YT reviews and sound demos. According to those, the 3W is a beast. It has the same filter as my beloved P5 Rev 4. So what can go wrong?

Nothing really new- a V-Synth or Nordwave 2 can do the same. It's just spending money on something new
