@@rozz3r Hows the quality of this machine? Do you think it will last another 20-40 years?

@@shawnsaul7759 It's built like a sexy orange tank. I guess the encoders might start failing at some point, but they're easily replaced with a bit of soldering skill.

Is the general tone of this soundpack reflective of the sound of the XT in general or does it take a lot of work to get something sounding this nice?
@angelos8084 жыл бұрын
@@atom9249 yes, the general tone of the soundpack is reflective of the XT character. The majority of the patches sound amazing and are musically useful. Lots of warm, evolving, cinematographic sounds. I think that it pushes the machine to its sonic limit without compromising musicality. All sounds respond to modulation wheel and the majority in aftertouch too. Worth trying IMO, the price is not high at all.
@atom92494 жыл бұрын
@@angelos808 I'm sure it's worth the price, the sounds are great. I don't have an XT though! My question is more whether it's worth getting an XT? Is it relatively easy to get such nice sounds or does it take a lot of programming? Does it have a wide sweet spot?
@angelos8084 жыл бұрын
@@atom9249 the sounds of this soundset use all what this synth offers as differential: wavetable animation and complex modulation. There is some deep and elaborate programming in there. However, you can create nice sounds straight away.

Just picked up an xt yesterday and yes it sounds great! It’s got a lovely warmth that modern digital synths and vsts all seem to lack. I wonder when we’ll start to see ‘virtual digital’ :-)

I have a quantum MK 1, and have been putting time into it lately. I love your example of the XT , which I have not owned or played. I always wonder if there is a big difference between the two synths, or any of the other Waldorf synths . I always wanted an XT. Just listening to the sounds you made make me wonder if I could get the same sounds, or if I could never get those awesome sounds you are producing. the thing about the Quantum , is that it is very fat and beefy , due to the analog filter? I actually have to try to thin out the sound sometimes to get it to fit with other synths. not a bad thing at all. I'm just rambling about it , but this is just a thought from a Quantum owner. Great sounds you are getting from the XT. very very nice.

Quick question- found an XTK 30 in my area for $2,500. Is that a good price? Obviously, I'm gonna try to get it down a bit because I dont really want to spend that much.. but, what do you think? Thanks. Great sounds!
@rozz3r4 жыл бұрын
30 voice XTks are quite rare and don't come up that often. $2500 is high, but it's a seller's market. My suspicion is that prices will only keep rising.
@Bin909able4 жыл бұрын
That's VERY much. I never bumped into problems with 10 voices 'only'. They are keeping to go up though, I wonder where it ends...
@DavidMorley4 жыл бұрын
It's high but they are VERY hard to find. A standard one is heading above $1500 easily. Personally I think the 30 voice is fantastic because you can have long droning sounds without cutting off tail ends. I found my XTk30 local and it's a keeper.

Terrific soundest. Do you have any idea if this will work in the original Microwave? The visuals are great by the way, how did you space type effect?
@rozz3r3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim. Thanks. Sadly, it won't work on the Microwave I, only on the II, XT and XTk. Visuals are generated by a program called Magic Music Visuals running some open source GLSL shaders (for starfield effects etc).

That warbling sound at the beginning - what's that from? is that the unique XT filters?
@rozz3r4 жыл бұрын
@@atom9249 Not easily. You can get close, to a point. Making 8 or 12bit wavetables will give you a lo-fi vibe, but there's an inherent warmth and smearing to the early Waldorf sound that seems to be unique. It's one of the reasons I won't part with it.
