When this song came out I was there and in my late 20s. Went through a divorce. Alone. Shit job after being jobless for a year and a half working me to the bone 12 hours a day for $9 an hour. Mental issues after getting out the military. Just lost my father. Nothing was good before and nothing showed me it would change. Grew up in the hood and knew nothing else, and none of my friends made it anywhere in life either. No education, no money, nothing but knowing I wanted MORE. There was one thing that I had - AMBITION. In the past 13 years since this song came out my ambition carried me forward. Hard work. Commitment. . Knowing that you were going to change the course and blow everyone away with your success.... I'm now at the top of my game. 13 years in a career and senior level. Successful by all means. Got 2 degrees, paid it myself. Salary increased 8 fold. Became a master at my trade. Got a family. Had kids. Got all the toys I could have ever wanted as a kid. All my friends who never succeeded asked me how I did it, and honestly... it's ambition. It's going to take TIME, but if you keep at it, trust it WILL happen. You just need to believe and you need to pay your dues and it will all come... but don't miss the time, people, and trip along the way: "Easy to dream a dream, but much harder to live it". The funny part is my only problem is now everyone hates on people who succeed😂. Even though I grew up with nothing and made something everyone hates on it now. They don't think you could know what it's like to eat dollar store mac and cheese cooked on a hotplate in a freezing apartment because your mom couldn't afford the gas bill. They don't think you could have done all that work yourself... but like when I was younger, "haters gonna hate" and nothing will change that.

I think what brings people down financially is trying to have the latest and greatest all the time. That’s why it’s hard for us to save but if you budget wisely and be smart with you’re finances.
