All the best from Welsh in Costa Rica ........I think bring in Morgan Morse to the senior squad for the autumn .....He could be part of the back row for next world cup ...? Mmmmmm... And next match Regan Grace needs a run ...

I thought he might be on the bench to get him a cap but no he’s stuck with Tompkins 🥹 I’d leave Morse for now. Just let him develop at his own pace. Still got loads of growing to do and it’s such an attritional position

As a South African who like most of my rugby loving countrymen I suspect just cant understand WHY THE HELL Wales still being coached by Gatland????? So when in 2018 when my beloved Springboks lost 57 - 0 to the All Blacks Rassie Erasmus was appointed. He himself publicly stated many times that if he cant get the Springboks to win within his first 3 games as coach that he would be fired. The Springboks lost the first 2 and won the 3rd against All Blacks in New Zeeland and consequently whe have now won back 2 back world cups with 4 in total. Wales does have the talent and a pround history. Its your coach thats the problem. Wales playing archaic rugby as of late imo. Anyway love your analysis. Learning loads about your team! Keep it up!🎉

It's not helped by the bloody WRU, this nonsense of the 25 cap is bloody killing Wales, Warren can only pick what's available absolute nonsense.
@pmarkc37434 ай бұрын
I 100% agree with you it's madness! I mean it's not rocket science and The Springboks proved when they dropped that rule of caps picking the best irrespective of where they play will deliver results. Wales literally can just follow the SA plan. We play such similar styles and whe both have super tough gladiators playing for our proud nations

Thank so much for watching. Always great to here an outside perspective. Yeah the longer things are going on the more im thinking its Gatland and his staff not the players. What I would give for a Rassie in Wales right now! Thanks for supporting the channel means a lot

@@TheWelshSportsPodcast Wales should imo and ASAP hire Franco Smith, the South African coach for the Glasgow warriors that won the URC this year. He has for us here in SA won us loads of titles like the 7s and Olympics etc.... get him before Scotland does. And they should hire you as well. Can only benefit Wales imo!. Also actually, why isn't more Welsh people angry online and in the news about your piss poor performances???? I mean take a leaf from everywhere else and riot demanding excellence from your 100+ years of great rugby tradition

I agree. As a Kiwi, Gatland was pretty ordinary with Waikato. Unfortunately Gatland just seems to have run out of energy. He should be driving around NZL looking for a few Maori boys with Welsh blood. Honestly looks like he’s run out of ideas. Wales 🏴

Love the vid mate! Would have liked to see something different this week as it clearly didn’t work last week. Would’ve liked to see Hardy start as he really sped up the attack when he came on. Not sure how many times Gatland needs to see the centre partnership until he realises it doesn’t work!

Yeah me too mate. I think the whole selection is a bit uninspired and seams a bit stubborn in my opinion 😬

It seems as if Gatland HAD a successful formula once and just can't get past it. As much h as he wishes Grady was Jamie Roberts.... he just isn't! And that's no slight on him, IMO he offers more than Roberts did.
@richarddykes85504 ай бұрын
Personally I have always rated Ben Thomas at Cardiff playing at centre. I was thinking that maybe Gatland would try him and Costelow together in the same way that Farrell and Ford were used for England. Also see how the combination would work with Thomas at 12 and Grady at 13. I think you’re right to question the coaching. They do say that attack is harder to coach given how good defensive systems are these days, but it is hard to see what they are trying to do sometimes.
@TheWelshSportsPodcast4 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think Thomas has had a brilliant season and he deserves a shot to be playing in his proper position where we can have more influence on the game plus it gives us more dynamism when we’ve got a 10 or a 12 to launch an attack or put a creative pass in
@olibedford4 ай бұрын
I think if we played Georgia right now we’d lose. We have no power and no strike moves. We know we’re lacking in ball carriers but still just run in to contact. The attack has certainly regressed since Howley returned. You’re so right about the centres and we do have viable options there.

Hi Christian, anther tricky game and the absence of Aaron Wainright that is an Ouch ! for the team, lets wait and see, good luck boys. I've notice we are 11th place in the rugby world rankings, Fiji are ahead of us now. This is not the fault of Warren Gatland it's a new team and this can take a year or so to get us up to scratch again the players need to gel. All our best have gone it was there time, a time now for these new players to step up, we will get there again. Catch you soon take care mate

Great to here such positivity bud! I just find it slightly concerning the way Gatland just discards certain players. I don't think a rebuild has to be so extreme. Look at what Farrell has been doing with Ireland. I think Gatland feels the Welsh regions aren't good enough to develop the young players so he has to do it at est level. Which you can understand in some ways, but his selection policy seems bizarre! I can't see how blooding players in such a losing environment will benefit them?

I'm a huge fan of Dyer, but he has been off form recently. I'll say this for Pivac, if a player was off form, he'd let him go back to his region to regain his appetite. Beard and North are examples of this.

An uninspired selection by W.Gatland keeping the same 23 Who played badly and didn't look cohesive and just doesn't have the ball running capacity / power to trouble any team i have seen so far this summer series Cannot see Wales being victorious to be honest and i think they will lose by a even bigger margin this weekend But i do live in hope im wrong As world rugby needs a strong Wales and Australia Unfortunately the only green shoots i have seen so far belong to Australia
@TheWelshSportsPodcast4 ай бұрын
Yeah, uninspired is the way I would put it too. When you have a site that doesn’t create anything or players who come off the bench and effectively cost you a try and then you don’t give someone else an opportunity it’s a bit confusing🤷🏻♂️

I do think Wales are a threat and although Australia are favourates but do what you want to see Wales to keep on improving. It is going to take Gatlin time to build the team again and you have to give him that time. You were luckier than Australia as we had to put up with Stupid Eddie until now.

If they’re not going to get rid of Gatland (I wish they would) Humphereys has to go never rated him as a player and he did nothing when he was Scotland forwards coach, also to me it’s obvious since Howley has come back is King has been pushed aside. Howley should be nowhere near that Welsh side after what he did. 100 percent we need a new forwards coach and backs coach, but people with credit. Jamie Joseph for forwards coach?? O’Gara as backs coach?? Something has to happen irrespective of the next two results..
@TheWelshSportsPodcast4 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think Humphreys needs to go. The pack is not progressed in the slightest in the whole time he’s been around and in fact it feels like it’s getting worse As for Howley The atmosphere around him just doesn’t seem good, but Gatland is never going to get rid of him. He’s his best mate 😂
@cro6494 ай бұрын
This Grady at 12 thing again! 5 months ago Gatland said Joe Hawkins made his bed, Gatland's law was vital for prep and only senior players like Biggar should be able to go. 5 months later he wants Hawkins, doesn't like Gatlands law, says its nothing to do with him and Wales shouldn't suffer to protect the regions. Two completely contradictory interviews. The latest undermines Tierney and the collaborattory work to do with the regions to attain the domestic WRU targets. He undermines his bosses to protect his own reputation. He's a cash hungry, insecure, megalomaniac with a fetish for big men. He's just taking the piss out of Wales and the WRU at this point because the latter didn't even review his work properly or consider his resignation. Gatland out!
@TheWelshSportsPodcast4 ай бұрын
Wow 😳 I take it you don’t think he’s the man for the job then?😂 Nah you are right. I think his success that he had in his fist tenure has led to him thinking he’s untouchable. I just find he’s a bit stubborn and it seams like he’s not sure how to get us out of this spot. I don’t think it’s all his fault but he deserves a big Chuck of the blame
@cro6494 ай бұрын
@TheWelshSportsPodcast Totally agree. The weak and inadequate leadership from the WRU is a factor. King, Howley and Humphreys should take some blame and be moved out and then there's Gatland. What a mess! The only thing I disagree with you on is that the WRU can't financially part with Gatland. Commercially they may not be able to afford to keep him. With terrible style and results that could cost the WRU millions even medium term. They could either invest in a good coach to achieve the best results for the players levels and at least improve style and morale or get Mark Jones or someone on a fifth of Gatlands money and make savings for the dame results.

Yeah, you’re right about the set piece and asked where my criticism of Humphreys comes from. If you look at lake at the Osprey, he’s improved is nuts and bolts so much. His line out comfortably over 90% success but for Wales it’s always much lower which makes you wonder about the system.🤷🏻♂️

The game is not being executed by Wales, last week there was no attack, will there be any change this week, Line out Scrum are poor absolute fundamentals in the modern game without them forget it, I cannot see a win the balance of the side just doesn't sit right, I know Gatland has to build and I don't bye into players that should be on tour it makes not one jot of difference, unless your basics are right.
