My grandfather's grandfather came from Wales to America as an escort for a lady who was coming to marry her fiance; when the fiance died my grandfather married the lady who had no prospects at all by herself in a strange land. My great grandfather moved to Kansas, and my Grandfather moved to Illinois. Sadly a lot of Welsh blood has been lost since my grandfather's grandfather left his home. It is strange how homesick these videos make me feel...

At the age of 5 in Tucson , Arizona I looked up at my Father and said I wanted to go home. His answer was I was home and it was the only home I ever had. I knew it was not. I went home in October 53 years later, maybe someday I can stay. It is not that you are born in Cymru are that your last name is Jones or Owens or that every last ancestor you have was born on Cymru soil. Cymru finds her children where ever they may be.

When I look into the history books it really saddens me to see how badly the Celts (Welsh, Scottish, or Irish) and my people of England have got on, seeing as we share the most beautiful set of islands on earth, and share a gorgeous and glorious history. My father spent a lot of time working in Cwm pennant (a builder) and tells me there is an old saying which goes "why did God make Cwm Pennant so beautiful and the life of the shepherd so short?" I live in Ontario now but was born and brought up on the Llyn Peninsula North Wales for 30years before moving to Milnrow North of Manchester which was also a great place to live.There are nice and horrible people EVERYWHERE !

My father is from the Jackson/Oak Hill/Jackson area of southern Ohio,statistically the area has the highest concentration of welsh decedents of any location in the USA..I have always noticed on visits they are a very witty people with a zest for life..My grand mother said the last of the people born in Wales died in the 1930s,when she was a young woman..But the decedents remain..

Rhianfa, I was lucky enough to visit the land of my forefathers Wales in 2006 and it just totally blew me away. There was that underlying feeling I had I couldn't comprehend but I now know as Hiraeth. I too will be taking my wife and sons "back home" to their ancestral heartland. "Cymru am byth"

like most people, until three years ago I had no idea where my ancestors came from. I started tracing my family roots and found my mothers side came from wales, that family goes back to the village of Hanmer, where my 16th great grandmother, Margret Hanmer married Owain Glyndwr in st chads parish in aprox 1385. I just returned from a trip that took me to the home countries of three of my grandparents. I spent time with my Burnett cousins in Bancory Scotland, My irish side In Waterford Ireland, and my Hanmer/Hammer cousins in Hanmer wales. Standing in St Chads Parish where many of my ancestors attended and were laid to rest on the grounds was the highlight of my trip. I had dinner with five of my welsh cousins and their families was,well words can not describe the feelings I had. Donald Burnett

YES. I have been to Whistling Sands Beach. .It's near Aberdaron on the Llyn Peninsular. I've walked across it and made the sands squeak. Surreal experience.
