I still find so amazing how Elia's skull is supposed to be solid and expressionless, but the animators use the "camera" angles and slight line placement to give it expression, pure genius the way it is done, subtle changes that are really noticeable in the feel

@@joshmoonXY There's often the part that Elias is taking about butterflies in his stomach while she's around him and doesn't understand the feeling ,Chise too while it's the first time for her having that feeling plus she's blushing obviously. Having butterflies in the stomach and having the feeling of jealousy are big signs of falling in love with someone or having feelings for someone (yes romantically feelings). He just doesn't understand it yet. He is called imperfect and almost half of his body is very similar to that of a human being, one can feel jealousy is a sign of that one can also develop romantic feelings for someone.

I don't like the subject is out there, but I am so glad that there is an anime about mental health in various ways. (Chise and Joseph feeling/wishing to act on suicide, Ashen Eye finding beauty in another person's pain and doing actions or manipulations to cause more of it, Elias extreme emotions and emotional imbalances/irregulation, Renfred and Alice antisocial tendencies, Tory being hyper and possibly low level mania, Adolf depression and low self worth/esteem, and probably more). I have read that certain 'anime producing' countries such as China, Japan, etc do not seem to pay attention to mental health topics, and suicide rates are apparently very high there. Therefore the fact there is an anime with a main topic of 'this character almost commited suicide, and the feelings of wanting death hasn't gone away' is a big deal. It also wasn't a case of 'you wanted to commit suicide agree to the auction and miraculously it went away', or 'you wanted to commit suicide, I will do some magic and poof you feel like you want to live now'. I appreciate that the anime has echoes of her feelings about death still lingering throughout. Nevin's 'the living should never envy the dead', Chise's comments about 'when am I going to die?', 'I have this curse now I don't want to die!', even at the end 'I'm glad I didn't die, but I still am not cool with everything about myself. Let's work on that'. However, this is an anime that is an onion, and is actually partly therapy. I've watched it several times (once subbed, and several of the dubbed), and found new things throughout that are personal to me. Some of the comments made ended up making me cry, and afterwards I felt like 'how does this anime know me', 'how does this anime say truths I need to hear or want to say'. That didn't feel like it invaded my thoughts and feelings and then pulled them out. It felt a bit like a comforting friend going 'it sounds like you feel [this]' or 'you need to hear [this]'. It felt like a positive and validating experience (especially given my beliefs are similar to some in the anime, I reside in the UK, have a connection to dragons and so on!). The Chise/Joseph conversation/argument was something I've had in my head before, and it was good the two parts could join together and both were treated kindly, one by one side!

He also enters his unformal apprenticeship of human things in a more intensive manner. Then Chise turns into a Phoenix after having the 'push she needed' from Lindel, Ruth, and Nevin.

They have emotions to understand, and they love each other, just not in a typical romantic way. Also, 16 is considered an adult in some countries, and Chise may die very young. Her life has also made her more mature for someone her age.

I love this Anime and Manga so much. This is truly a masterpiece of both. Tragedy, Comedy, Romance and so on. And all so well balanced. Moments of Joy share moments of sadness. One of my favorite things about the Ancient Magus Bride videos here on KZbin other than the fact that the series/manga are amazingly intricate with their attention to detail and almost incredibly mythologically accurate portrayals as well as the incredible art style and beautiful music is the amount of views and likes on the clips. You will see about 37.6K views or what not and only 5 dislikes. Most often I see about 2-3 dislikes. The most I've seen is 22. Twenty freaking two. I don't imagine anyone can hate on this series. Oh Wow I think I fell in love with this anime a little to much. ★★★★★
