I tried it this way but when I convert a video to a fusion clip, the video itself doesn't appear in the Fusion tab, just the transparent checkerboard (until I create the merge and text nodes). I can't see the video in order to draw around and create a mask. I've made sure the nodes are enabled.

Would this also work with an object that is moving while it moves along the image? I'm making an intro for the raceteam I'm a part of and one of our riders recently got filmed with a slowmotion camera while cornering. He moves around on his bike during the cornering so the effect might not be getting implemented in a linear fashion like the bus in your example video, can i adjust the movement using several keyframes during the movement opposed to a starting and ending keyframe?

I know its a late reply but for anyone else reading this, yes it can be done from any shape as you just move a frame or two at a time and then move the nodes/dots on the mask to the edge of each shape/outline that you want it to follow As you will have more shape to follow as its not going to be a long straight surface you can add more points to the mask just by clicking on the mask where you want a point

@@stehume no worries, i appreciate it! Got some things done using this tutorial, also with moving objects, moving titles too! I made one where motorcycles would ride in front of the title and the title gets 'blocked' by each rider as the come along. Took me a while but the end result looks pretty dope. Adds a bit of realism to the end result

It is way more easier in color tab, first copy the layer in time with exact same frames, then go to color tab mask the bus and track the mask and It'll track it go end as bus is in all frames we needed, then go to edit page then put text text under the masked layerw and up from the primary layer, hope this helps!🙆

video that you recommend? Edit: I found a video involving the color tab, both methods work! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqbKlJmsiJKZnqs

It can be done a number of ways, the colour tab is just one of them. I guess in a way that as this is a simple yet effective way of achieving the same result it also gets people to use fusion and could be a start of learning of how the fusion page works with merges. This way allows you to use modifiers on the text all with in fusion so you are then able to change and format each letter as you wish, yes you could do that with the text in the first place but just keeping it all in fusion page can speed up workflow
