I can play money for nothing like a rockstar thanks to your excellent tutorial Pavel. This one im finding a bit more of a challenge with the right hand moving around a little more, especially getting enough power in the flick. I find myself pulling my last 2 fingers (ring and pinky) too hard against the high E string trying to get more power, and I lose proper hand stability. Ill get there though!! Thanks you for this accurate Knopfler stuff. Id love you to do a "Setting me up" tutorial some day. I really appreciate you, and I love your accent with your singing!

I also spent many hours if not days studying Knopfler's technique, this is extremely good, well done. It is not easy and he varies it with different songs. It's uniquely driving, almost a band in one. Damping at the bridge is also vital which you do. Thank you and all the very best.

Hi Pavel! This channel is really awesome! Love to way you break it down amd stay true to knopfler-technique.. I’ve been playing for 26years now and mark knopfler was the reason I wanted to learn how to play in the first place. Since my childhood I’ve been playing the songs, chordwise, strumming and with a guitarpick… it never got near the real deal and that always bothered me. Watching your video’s and applying your expertise and approach made me get hooked on the songs again and for the first time in years I’ve been practicing in focus for hours. Thanks for the inspiration. Keep up the good work💪

I've discovered your channel only a few days ago, thanks to the "boom like that" tutorial, which appeared in my homepage, but i already started going through all of your videos cause they are all absolutely quality, and this one is no exception. I really love listening to mark knopfler, but even if i have been playing guitar for a while now, i have never been able to actually figure out his style and play his songs correctly. Now i can, thanks to you. Thank you again my friend, you have definitely got a new subscriber, keep on doing what you are doing. greetings from italy✌🏼

Thanks Pavel, this is excellent. This rhythm has frustrated me for a while on the right hand to get that sound but this is the best and easiest I have seen and have finally got the right sound! I found a good tip that takes a lot of pressure off the left hand and index finger: Put a capo on the 2nd fret but don't capo the low E and possibly A string so the capo covers the other 4 strings ( you just put the capo in the other direction to achieve this ). This makes it a lot simpler.

Please could you do a longer video explaining the whole song ?

I don't know honestly, I make my videos so it's enough information to learn the whole song. I thought I've said enough, so can't really pinpoint exactly what else I can say. Mark really uses the same technique and chords throughout the whole song, just like you said.
@TheSavageWoman4 жыл бұрын
@@PavelFomenkov thanks for replying. U explained it really well, i just wish the second part of the son was explained in the same detail as the intro as i am not a professional. If you record yorself playing the whole song slowly with lyrics would help too. So easy with the left hand, so hard with the right...been working on this one since I started playing three years ago! My guitar teacher asks me why I am still doing it, as 99% of people won't notice the difference between how i do it now, and how I did it a year or two ago, but getting anywhere close to Knopfler's sound with that right hand takes forever, with constant little adjustments. On the upside, it helps with playing lots of his other stuff! Thanks so much for this one and all of the others too. On a technical point, I notice that in 2008 you didnt really have the third finger resting on the guitar, and it still isn't fully anchored (it rests against the bottom string). Personally, I have tried anchoring the third finger, and i find it almost impossible as any movement of my third finger also moves my second. It also feels uncomfortable in the forearm. I anchor my little finger, which does make a difference getting leverage under the strings. looking at your third finger when you flick with the second, I can see a lot of movement in the third finger too so i wondered if you have had a similar issue. Given your dedication to this, and assuming I am right, I was interested in the journey you have had in that area over the last ten years (!) and any tips.
@PavelFomenkov7 жыл бұрын
I can't quite understand exactly what you mean, if you mean resting little and ring finger on the guitar - I can't do that, maybe because my fingers are too short or something, it's just not my thing. Generally I tend to anchor my little finger like Chet Atkins did, and looks like you also do it like this.
@HdyDdy-qs8kq7 жыл бұрын
Yes that is what I mean. For me though the problem isn't that my fingers are too short, but that the ring finger moves when I move my middle finger. Sounds like we have a different problem, but the same solution. I did notice a lot of difference when i started anchoring the little finger, and I keep trying to anchor the ring finger too, but it isnt happening for me!
