Eine sehr beachtliche Produktion! Juha Uusitalo ist erstaunlich gut, auch Zubin Metha kann zur Abwechslung mal überzeugen. Warum am Tempo rumgenörgelt wird erschließt sich mir nicht, ich finde es optimal. Sogar die Inszenierung kann man ansehen ohne Augenkrebs zu bekommen. Findet man heute nicht so oft...

Die bisher perfekte Umsetzung von Wagners Vision. Die sinnlich erfahrbare Umsetzung der Wagner/Schopenhauer/Nietzsche Lebensphilosophie. Ich habe erst hierdurch die Gefühlslage des 19 Jahrhunderts begriffen und diese Produktion ist so modern, dabei wunderschön und künstlerisch das ich nur sagen kann: das beste deutscher Kunst präsentiert nicht in Bayreuth, sondern in Valencia!

Zubin Mehta is the worst Wagner conductor who I know without Juha Uusitalo this recording would not be endured. He is perhaps the best Wotan we have at the moment!

@MySHCH Well the people who got see this live were lucky that the singers wore the traditional Wagnerian costumes. When I went to see one of the Ring operas they were dressed in 1920s leisure outfits. :-P

Interessant, das diese absolut meisterhafte Umsetzung, die wie noch keine mir bekannte, die Vision Wagners umgesetzt hat, als WITZ/JOKE bezeichnet werden kann. Die philosophische Bindung Wagner/Schopenhauer/Nietzsche ist hier sinnlich erfahrbar. Von Witz keine Rede! Deutsche Kultur at its best in Valencia.

this clip doesn't do his performance justice. watch the entire opera. in the second pass through (the first pass you are too distracted by the star trek stuff) his performace is marvelous. it gets even better in siegfried.

I think Wotan should NOT have knelt. Brunnhilde should have been on her knees and Wotan should have rushed to embrace her.

visual aids here are great, but the voices of odin and Brunhilde do not fit to the total loftiness of the performance; the visuals sometimes place a great disorder like the sanscrit letters in Act 1 (WHERE RUNES OF THE FUTHARK THEN?), yet, like here in the scene of being ablaze, they do their best

This bass lacks the magsterial gravitas that a true Wotan must have in his delivery. You have it or you don't; you can't fake it.
