I grew up literally on the fairways of golf courses in the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area and went to high school in Pebble Beach. I know golf courses. I know the most beautiful golf courses anywhere! However, when my wife and I attended the Masters about 8 years ago, after entering the grounds at Augusta National on a Practice Day at about 8:30am I almost dropped to my knees at my first sight of the course. It's majesty and magnificence is simply indescribable, for me at least. With every angle, view, fairway knoll, creek, green, incredible change in elevation......everything, it just exceeded all expectation and fantasy. It was almost a religious experience. Some might think this is hyperbole, but I'm dead serious. It's crazy beautiful.

With as hard as it is to get tickets, this is probably as close as I'll ever get to Augusta National. What a beautiful golf course. It's like Bobby Jones said... "It seemed the land had been lying there for years just waiting for someone to lay a golf course upon it”

300-700 usd for practice round tickets on stubhub, your wife has bought couches twice that cost and its a stupid couch. This is Augusta, here every year, for such a trivial amount of money, don't short yourself the opportunity.

I got to go in 2018 for the Wednesday practice round with my father and brother. We went immediately to Amen Corner but hit all the highlights here. It was the best sporting experience I have been to, and I hope to go back again someday! Looking forward to November 2020 Masters Week!

Unlike any other golf course on earth! Spectacular beauty, grass looks like it's been combed. You can feel the reverence of being on these grounds. Pure class and tranquility!! A bucket list item for every golf lover!

Attended practice round a few years ago. We started on first hole and walked the entire course on right side of the fairways. When done, we rewalked the course on the opposite side of the fairways. Didn’t want to miss any views. Perfect day!

Man he does it the hard way! Every year I bring a first timer with me. We come in the bottom gate behind all the trees and stands to where the 1st view of the course is the green at 13. Walk Amen corner the. Head uphill following 17 and 18. Get to the top and do all the seeing up there like the cabins the par 3 and clubhouse practice green etc. Then start working downhill following 1 until you get down to 16 then sit in the chairs I’ve had there all week and enjoy the rest of the day. My knees are to bad to walk up the hill late in the day

I had the privilege to go this year for the first time. When you get there it's hills, hills, and more hills! Lol. The beauty of the course takes your mind off it but she ain't easy. It's a beautiful workout. I enjoyed the experience.
@Whoopdido7774 жыл бұрын
@Silas Leeks Yeah I’ve been there twice for practice rounds. To anybody that’s going there for the first time, it’s one of the hilliest courses you’ll ever see. I’ve played Kapalua a couple of times and that course is probably hillier. I honestly don’t know how the players get around that course without a cart. They don’t show it on tv but they have to shuttle players between a couple holes because there are huge gorges in between that would be like a 3 mile walk just from one hole to the next. But back to Augusta, tv really doesn’t do it justice. Both 2 and 10 are massively downhill. 8 is way more uphill than it looks. The second shot at 9 is more uphill than it looks. Even 18 is a slog uphill.
@silasleeks23244 жыл бұрын
@@Whoopdido777 You're definitely right. I think the parking lot has uneven lies as well. Walking to the restrooms was downhill. Tight lies and uneven fairways is a bad combination. It would probably drive you crazy. But that's the goal of Augusta National of course. Seeing all those slopes up close is mindblowing. I remember standing behind 18 tee and couldn't believe how narrow that shoot is. I usually play a draw so I would be shaking more. Just about even hole is uneven. Definitely the ultimate test in every way.

I wish we could walk the fairways after the final pairing in the final round. Like why not? After the final pair finishes a fairway, just let the patrons follow but keep some distance like in Arnold Palmer's prime years at the Masters. People could take in so much more at Augusta.

I wonder why there's mulch everywhere in woodline,how do they get rid of fallen leaves?anybody know?
@gtaylor92184 жыл бұрын
It's not mulch..it is pine straw..pine trees dont have leaves. Also..the team in charge of maintaining the course will literally hand pick the leaves that fall from the hardwoods. I watched a line of 20+ guys walk side by side down the 9th hole filling in divots and fixing any imperfect area at the end of a tuesday practice round. They have guys working around the clock if needed. It is more perfect than you think. You gotta Get there once in your life .

Augusta should be banned from PGA activity. I can think of very few organizations with such a poor record of racist violations than Augusta. The abuse to women, black people, poor people, or anybody but rich white men is unforgivable. It is time to make them pay for their hypocripsy...ban the golf club from all PGA activity.
