Designed specifically for active outdoor enthusiasts, the all-new Winnebago® Revel takes a no-nonsense approach to adventure, with straightforward design and function-driven features. Taking full advantage of the proven 4×4 Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter chassis, the Revel’s 3-liter turbo-diesel puts 325 lbs./ft. of torque through an on-demand 4WD system, complete with high/low range and hill descent mode for added off-road capability. Inside, the Revel’s unique features start with a floorplan designed around a 140-cu. ft. gear garage with a power lift bed. A full galley, including a 2.5-cu. ft. compressor refrigerator, makes meal prep a breeze, while the all-in-one wet bath and gear closet boast a cassette-style toilet that eliminates the need for a separate black water holding tank. Add a standard solar power system, diesel-powered heating, a dinette with a pull-up table that converts to additional sleeping space, and many more innovative features and the result is the new Revel: quite simply the most off-road capable RV Winnebago has ever built.

My favorite adventurous cousin who's always doing the most, purchased this rig and we all think it's versatility is amazing. He uses this as his daily driver to work. He said he hardly puts any fuel in it. It doesn't look like an RV. It looks like a Overland recreation vehicle. It's pretty stealthy.

I like the fact that there is no TV, the shower space is functional, and getting rid of the black tank is a step in the right direction. I applaud getting rid of propane and going with all eclectic however I think there is some concern about battery capacity and being able to create enough energy from solar when you are off grid. Would love to hear from some owners about how well this is working out.

best buy a Ford E350 and get a 4v4 kit installed on it. cause until American companies start making aftermarket lift kits for them this is what you get, not much. EU 4x4 is just that 4 tires turning, its not about ground clearance to them.

I checked into this. You could increase the rim side or go a little wider which would raise the rig a little but fuel would suffer and this rig is not designed for Jeep style rock crawling.

Anti Petrolhead that is why I am going to with a F350 or Ram 3500, diesel, removed bed, and a slide on homemade Composite Camper. I really want to go where 4x4's can only go and live there for periods of time. They are Campers give way more room than a van and the truck gives me the ground clearance to go places this thing cannot. This truck is exactly what I am looking to build myself. With a couple of minor changes. kzbin.info/www/bejne/amqWgYiPr5VsopI

1 BIGGUN yes, but not absurdly overpriced. An empty shell, white Sprinter 4x4 costs just about 48-50% of that. Winnebago builds quality stuff, and nifty stuff that you don’t even know how much you want until you use it. I would make a very educated guess that you would spend $110-115,000 for the van and all the extra fixtures and materials. I think it’s well worth $20,000 to let the experts do it and have a warranty on it where you know it’s perfect and if not they will correct it.

Nice rig! A few things to consider however. A 16-18 ft off-road Toyhauler trailer (about $13,000 new), offers the same amenities/utility, and allows you the use of your 4X4 tow vehicle for running around. Not sure I want so much $$$ tied-up in a single vehicle.

Great video, a lot of good info. Two questions: 1. What is the actual ground clearance of the Revel? I have read that the 4x4 has "extra inches of ground clearance", but haven't seen an actual number. 2. Is it possible to add another window in the bed area on the passenger side? Probably the less window area, the warmer the van stays, but light is important to me. Thx for your answers.

What is WRONG with people, if you think it's over priced, just stop watching video when it's shown, why does everything think that ALL people who want to live in a class B want to convert? Not everyone wants or has the skills to convert a van, this allows people to buy an RV for off roading that's mass produced, not cheap, true but no long wait and has the features that many young people want for THEIR needs. Why do they think ALL want the microwave, TV etc, people who buy these vehicles probably don't want that, W did market research to determine that, and put what they found was wanted for this type of vehicle and they have plenty of their models who have that. Or that you HAVE to take off shelves etc. for the bathroom, (you don't, don't use it as a closest ) but this is not meant for families nor specifically for seniors (comment about storing their special type of trikes on the bottom.) People like to brag how cheaply they can do it, good for you, but maybe some people DO make a lot of money and if they do, and can afford to spend the money and why should a person who works hard and wants to buy a quality item be put down, they earned NOT stole their money. Buying something ready made helps employ many people, and make the economy stronger, DIY's only employ themselves, and if everyone did that, no one would have a job and will HAVE to do things themselves. If you have to make comments, just say what you think they could do to improve their model, instead of tearing it down. And if American made RVS are so bad, why are there many older ones still on the road? There are some (believe it or not foreign made) RVs which have had problems.

Seems reasonable to me. An empty 4x4 high roof Sprinter can run you $55k easily. You'd be surprised how fast everything adds up for furniture, electrics, heating, water, waste water, bathroom, etc., plus all the skilled labour to assemble it. I just watched a video for a $1.5M Earthroamer. It's basically a big truck with a custom camper on the back. Now that's over priced.

For the folks who complain about the Revel not being “stealthy” enough?! Ask yourself, you are in an RV... do you think you are going to fool the police? If that’s your concern buy a white van with no windows and do your own conversation! I’ve been living in a small RV for over 7 years and have traveled from coast to coast, stealth is over-rated... and in most cases you are not fooling LEOs!

135k is too much. I guess it’ll be cool to buy a slightly used one for 100k then travel the country with it for a couple years and hopefully sell it for 70k. But for that 30k u can get a Nissan nv van with an outdoor shower and it gets better mpg. Plus after traveling the country with it for a couple years, you can still sell it easily for 15k so it’s a much more affordable option. Of course if u can afford the 135k price tag then buy this one

Very nice tour and little camper...but at $150,000 dollars...why not just spend 5,000 a year on a cool 30 day rental cabin for the next 30 years? No hassle no maintenance costs, no vehicle tax or registration fees, no depreciation when you drive off the lot etc? Plus all the interest that cash could be making in a savings account too (for 20 years).

You present and give no perspective; something that is extremely important to people is how much room is in that shower and how much toilet space you've got, and you did not express that...
@4wdhome106

michaeljon16 The bathroom is truly tiny, and it has to be. This specialised camper van design has absolutely no extra space to spend for bigger bathroom. You’ll get your knees inside while sitting on the toilet, that’s it, more than that is waste of precious space.
@Tygerlady99
@Tygerlady99 6 жыл бұрын
That "bathroom" looks teeny tiny. My 6 ft. husband couldn't get in that thing if he tried. That is why, in all of the videos I've seen, nobody actually stands the bathroom because you really can't use the space for showering. It's basically a closet (w/a toilet) and you'll just have to get one of those portable tent showers. Hopefully, in the Revel 2.0, they will have remedied this problem.

Too detailed. Should have started off with an over all tour of what can be done (sleeping, bathroom, etc.) THEN gone into more detail about electronics and plumbing...really don't need to know about the steps being lit. Also, didn't see any sort of kitchen option...frig? But it was too long and detailed so perhaps I missed it skipping past stuff. Shower toilet is great and that both front seats swivel back I think but again it wasn't shown. Bed lowers too low so have to move whatever is stored underneath and that is a big hassle. A few shots of front seats turned...a night shot with shades drawn and steps out could have saved a lot of words. Saying "nice" a lot is something they do in cooking shows too and drives me crazy...pet peeve.

I would love this, except that gray for the interior is too drab and depressing. The kiwi green is too extreme and is also just not a pleasant color to live with. Since so much of this layout was taken from Euro vans, why not also use their color design?

Nice job. Coouple of questions. How do you access the 3 bateries below if you have to replace them? Do you have to jack the vehicle up for acces? I want to mount my bicycle in the storage using Thule mounting hardware. I need to know where robust mounting points on the floor is? is that even possible since the floor is covered? Thank you.
@ColonialRV
@ColonialRV 6 жыл бұрын
Hello Robin,Sorry we didn't show the batteries which are located under the vehicle. While it would help to have a lift to replace batteries a tech can use the crawler to get under and replace if needed. As for the storage area in the rear (under the bed) there are mounting positions on the side. Thank you

Skankhunt42 thanks for watching the Revel video... We are certainly excited about selling it and adding the 4x4 Revel to the Winnebago class B lineup! As for the 1988 Dynastar Skiis, while they may not make it to Olympics, they can still hold their own with the youngsters here in the Northeast! Enjoy and drive carefully! Bobby Hensinger

How easy to replace the AGM with Lithium?
@benvernick
@benvernick 6 жыл бұрын
Jollyprez I’m not an expert but I believe Lithium Ion Battery do not work well in cold weather and these AGM’s are located outside under the van. That might be a problem you’d have to consider. Lithium is also twice as expensive. Not sure if everything would have to be rewired, have to ask an electrician.
@4wdhome106
@4wdhome106 6 жыл бұрын
It’s a (serious) construction error to use car batteries in the living area, however when changing to lithium the vario has to be considered, it require a minor electric rebuild. And yes, batteries doesn’t like cold weather, especially car batteries, than lithium has another advantage.
@jss27560

Ben Vernick I believe the issue is lithium batteries don't like being charged when cold.

They really dropped the ball by not providing propane wtf it has no generator the number one thing is being able to run the fridge and heat off propane. I run my fridge in my precept Jayco sprinter for a full 30 days off propane. I also have solar and it won't run my fridge 24 hours a day even though it has the go power 200 watt solar set up so this unit will not keep food cold but love the 4 wheel drive but that kiwi green 1970 green is as bad as it gets wtf lmao. Put propane a small inverter generator micro wave and I would buy one but it needs propane and a generator to run ac a microwave is a must as well come on guys it's 2018 people who can write a check for a RV van want the minimal creature comforts. Propane tank 350 dollars generator Honda super quiet 2000 dollars and micro wave 250 dollars for 2600 dollars more I'm in a real RV not a van with solar. Just saying do you research those are 3 deal killers.
