I have the first version of Flipside 400 and have used it for years. I want to upgrade but wish some things were different. What I'd like to see in the IV version: 1) Make the front pocket more functional. Right now, it can hold items, but its usability is quite limited. An expandable front pocket could be a great addition. 2) Waist belt that is removable 3) Top access 4) I carry both a tripod and a water bottle, so I need pockets on both sides. I considered the ProTactic 450, but it’s much heavier than the Flipside 400. The search continues.

Had ordered a flipside 400 aw ii and a fastpack 250 aw ii last year and went with the fastpack because only back access wasn't my fav and I was new to camera backpacks. The side access on this 3rd gen is amazing. Love the more rigid look to it too. Just waiting until my local camera store stocks them or Amazon does. Only request would be to make the hip belt removeable!

I love your FlipSide Trek 450. The backpack is almost perfect and a real space saver. But maybe you still plan to improve a little bit. A few more loops or eyelets would be fine. E.g. also on the underside, so that you can still transport a little something. The pockets on the hip belt are great, maybe something like that on the shoulder belt. I would love to have a fourth size with even more space and a larger daypack.

Looks very nice. I'm using one of the old Flipsides and this update fixes most of my ussues with it. Might have to grab one. :)

i just received flipside 400 aw iii and 500 aw ii to test out which one i like more. I like many design elements of aw iii, esp the side access - but think 500 aw iii would be perfect if you guys made it.

Love the 400. But its was kind of funny when you mentioned the side access for a small camera. And you pulled out a full framed Sony with a battery grip and a 70-200 lens. If that's small what big? great review and again I love my 400 model.

I like it but the only thing that's putting me off is the waist strap, I prefer one I can remove if I don't need it.

So you can’t cary both a water bottle and a tripod? Looks like it’s either one or the other due to the design.

Yes, it's just one or the other.

This was my first thought as well. What a design flaw. Two little straps would solve the problem.

Got a TNF borealis right now but I'm looking for a durable camera backpack, I think Lowepro does a good job.

Is possible to use the bag as a "table" with the waist strap, avoiding the contact with the floor, as in the previous versions of the flipside models? Thanks
@oscarcrendeful Жыл бұрын
No, it's not. I tried it, and I confirm it is impossible and this is not its intended use. The zipper bends if you try to do it. I contacted to Lowepro USA, Spain, Germany, France... all of them told me different things before the purchasement. It was too difficult to know that. Even I needed to buy one and try by myself...

Hi are there any plans for a Flipside 500 III?

I use Sony a series. Will the camera sit flush against the padding of the opening? Most Lowepro bags are built for DSLRs so it leaves the camera rattling around.

Is it deep enough for a Nikon Z9? The Z9 is nearly 16cm deep so I wonder if it will fit or not. THANKS

In the 400, can you fold the belt into that slit where it is attached to hide it when you don't want to use it? That belt tend to be cumbersome. That was my issue in my old Fastpack. I had to cut it off since I really don't get to use it.

The storage front pocket in the Flipside 400 aw 11 seems much bigger than the Flipside 400 aw111... is that true?

Seems odd that a replacement interior pouch isn't available as a replacement part, per customer service (for the 300 AW III).

ok, so you can either carry a water bottle or a tripod. which is pretty dumb. just add a small pouch and straps to the front already.

I despair with Lowepro designs, it's like the designers don't talk to each other or look at existing designs and roll out the good features across the range. The Flipside Treks seem to have traded practicality for styling, with the result that they accommodate neither enough camera nor non-camera kit. I think there must be many of us who combine hiking with photography, and what we really need really need is a bag that can accommodate the amount of camera kit of the Flipside Trek 350 or 450 but with space for enough of the normal non-camera stuff you need for a day out (waterproofs, food etc.). Then we need it to have the pocket(s) on the inside of the main flap which is really useful for thin things like cleaning swabs, filters etc., like the Flipsides and m-Trekker have. The Powder 500 is not the solution, it holds a greater weight of camera kit than I think most people would want to take out hiking, and not enough non-camera kit for a day on the mountains - especially in winter.

I have the first version of this backpack and every time you update it you screw it up. It is prettier but you have destroyed its essence. I remain faithful to the first version; Luckily, at the time I bought two units, the first one, as a spare, seeing what you were doing with the updates.
