Thanks for your feedback. I think the hardest thing with a Garmin is trying to get your head around the 'navigational experience'. Once you know what that looks like it is half the battle, then it's just a case of learning and practice, practice and yet more practice.

Nice video, got my 66s couple months ago, great piece of kit. Only thing I don’t like is glass screen, already got 4 small chips on it and it hardly touched the rock where it got them from, wish it was a lot more tougher like my fenix 5 garmin watch. Frank.

Thanks for the video! Got one question regarding the navigation. Is it possible to set a sound notification for turns (is it called turn-by-turn navigation?) ? I'd like to use it for hiking and cycling. A single 'beep' as waring about upcoming turn would be great for cycling.

Thanks for your question. If you watch the start of the video it takes you through loading a track on the unit, which will then gives you the navigational experience you are looking for. I hope this helps.

Great video. I recently received my 66s and really enjoying it. I thought that the arrow would only point to the next point if you were following a route and not a track. What is it following on a track? Thanks

Thanks so much for these videos. They are an invaluable resource. Is the Garmin GPSmap 66st basically a 66s with topo maps? So i could essentially get a 66s buy the topo maps and turn a 66s into a 66st? Also is the multiband technology really necessary in UK and europe? Thanks again.
@ukgpstraining2 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for your question. Yes the 66sr is similar to the 66st, but with the addition of the built in battery (25 hours of battery life) and as you say the multi band. This will give an accuracy of 1.5m, compared to the 2m accuracy of the 66st. The main thing you need to check is that you are using the GPS and Galileo. You can check this within the setup of the unit. By using the Galileo it will give you the best accuracy. I hope this helps.

Master reset the unit - gpstraining.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/6000135806-how-do-i-perform-a-master-or-factory-reset-on-my-gpsmap-62-64-or-66s-series-device- 2. Very helpful video, thank you for posting it! I just purchased a 66sr. Question if I may (can't find an answer anywhere yet). If I am at a local national park (I live in southern Illinois, USA) and decide on the spur of the moment to talk a long hike, how do I track my walk so that I can also get back at the end of the day, if that makes sense. Thank you if you have time to answer!

I try and be inclusive. I personally use 1:25k maps on my own unit but equally happy using 1:50k. If you plan routes on BaseCamp before you go do we really need the extra detail we get on the 1:25k maps? It's a debate we need to have on our Podcast I think!
