That's great, then people living abroad who grew up in these regions will get a more personal view of their respective hometowns. I am especially fond of Linden, spent many years there, it would be amazing to see it before I return to Guyana. I am sure that those videos will be just as enjoyable as those of Georgetown, I wish you every success in the future, and congrats on all of your very impressive and well deserved academic achievements.. Bravo!!!

You used the right word to describe some of these buildings. When I left Guyana in 1968, the average high residential building was 2-storey, a few 3-storey, very few. Now, the mind boggles at what I see. Seems most of Guyana is living in Georgetown despite the fact that the population is less than 1968, so they have to build upwards to accommodate the influx. Is wha happen, man?

Lloyd Dettering some large building construction is a cover for money laundering.

Money laundering? Are you implying drug money? What has happened to the Guyana I knew? Sounds like a frightening place to live in. With oil money soon coming into the economy, the crime rate could accelerate! An' dawg eat dawg, too!

Thank you! As google map does not do "street view" for Georgetown this is the closest to seeing what the view from the street would be.

+Laura Hall that was exactly my original idea. Plus I plan to do street tours in other cities where I meetup with subscriber and let them show us the most important streets in their city and where they grew up.

Great idea, Raph! But do all of Guyana first! There are more Guyanese abroad than there are in Guyana. Cover the villages throughout Guyana.

I grew up at 99 Hadfield Street in the house where there was a fire that killed the Abraham family but could not see the site. It was one house away from George street. Is there a house still here? Thank you for the memories. Bit worried about your breathlessness. Are you walking too fast?
@RaphaelNation
@RaphaelNation 7 жыл бұрын
+Joy Williams yes I think there is still a house there. I will verify. I'm quite healthy. Thanks for your concern. I run ten miles every morning on the sea wall.

Joy Williams I know your name, I grew up in the long yard also 98 Hadfield St shared a side window with the Abraham's and was in their house because they were baby sitting me that night. One thing I didn't like is how run down they have the outside of Brickdam church get.

Guyana has seen a massive construction/development/transformation boom between 2000 and 2014. The whole place change up. It turn into a modern world class city. Thanks to Jagdeo and his vision. He opened up the banking sector and encouraged businesses. The whole place was a construction zone....from water street to the university. Banks, Hotels, homes etc. They need to continue the momentum..but there seem to be a slow down under the new government.
