The Nissan X trail is probably the best camping 4x4 car. I've done this to mine. 143,000 miles 2.2 DCI. absolutely trouble free. Nissan. Toyota. Subaru. Honda. Mitsubishi. I'll never know why people buy anything else.

I also sleep in in the back of my X-Trail but with single camping air mattress and more gear! Interested to know how you get in and out? Side doors or rear hatch? I have done both and like side door because I can snib lock it for security, but rear hatch for the view and wider opening. And then there's the time the rear hatch accidentally closes and have to scramble over stuff to get out side door (I thought there would be an emergency inside latch, but ...?}

Hi punkzoo, no I just opened each window just a little bit however if you are going where it rains then I would invest in some wind deflectors on the windows to keep the rain out. I found just having each window open just a cracked and also the sunroof cracked up a little worked well. Have an amazing time doing the same.
