Very informative video, thanx for posting that. It taught me a lot about deep levels of control on these x350’s. I have hopefully a simple problem I'd like to share you and your readers. Here is a very short flight of what may be an unplanned Waypoint mission from an odd occurrence with the Devo-M connected to MP. Walkera QR X350 Pro Best Flyaway anyone could ask for… My QR X350 Pro v1.2, MAVLink-OSD MinimOSD V1.2. After getting the MAVLink installed and running. I connected again to Mission Planner to compare notes between the OSD reading and the MP software, they were identical. Once connected it prompted for an update that reference the MAVLink, well, I did it and my Devo-M changed… As you know Windows normally loads the X350 Pro with an Arduino Mega 2560 driver. When I connect the x350 Pro to the computer after this update the system now shows: Arduino Mega 2560 DFU of which Windows can not locate a driver and I can no longer make any changes to the Devo-M or restore the default from Walkera's SerialAngel firmware updater app. I have two x350 pros and just got a new Devo 10. I took both out the other day and the first flight on the 10 with the x350 w/o telemetry was awesome. I used a Black Pearl for video. Unfortunately that flight was not recorded. I think it was my changing from the F7 to the 10 and using an external display. I think I forgot to stop the recording before I pulled the power. Now the second flight with the MAVLink had a GoPro mounted and the minute it went up, game over, flyaway or Waypoint mission. I had no control and fought to regain control immediately after lift-off. It flew like it was going somewhere, planned. I did not cause it to turn; it turned on its own. It didn’t randomly fly away. It really appeared to be programmed. Has anyone experienced the Devo-M signature changing and if so, would you know how to recover from this? I later plugged my other units in and looked around, the haven't changed at all, just this one with MAVLink and that update (I wish I paid closer attention and thought about it a little longer before accepting that update. Awesome video! I just wonder how much average time it has to return to come home when it triggers the failsave at 10.5v? You already tested if it works?

Hi, I noticed that on your computer screen at the beginning 0:07 your map is displaying an error. I'm receiving the same error when I open mission planner and even after I plug my walkera up to the computer and still nothing even when receiving GPS signal... any ideas?

not sure, if no comm port was assigned, maybe push your ubs port on your quad harder. you will notice the plug is bigger than the opening, so we emphasized, you need to really push it in. once a connection is established, a port will be assigned by your PC. you need wifi to download the maps, once you able to connect. hope that is the solution.

***** Oh, I'm not having a problem connecting the 350 to mission planner, I'm just having a problem downloading the maps. I continue to get that 404 server error even after the aircraft is connected.

ok. upgrade your Mission Planner if it is the older versions. there were older versions that was fixed with that issue. hope that is it, if not search diydrones.com forum for same issue and resolution.

***** I saw that thread, and I've downloaded the latest MP and even tried beta versions but it still doesn't work. Thanks for your input though, I'm thinking that it might be an internet security issue that's blocking the two servers from interacting. If I figure it out, I will pass it along.

Gary-James Knight Figured it out, mission planner was using a bad link for the tile zoom level, it was using a link that referenced an older version of tiles. Once I entered the new version as a link into my browser it worked fine in mission planner...

Great video mate, followed your instructions and it worked first time. One question about the FS_BATT_VOLTAGE. Everyone seems to be doing the LVC mod by soldering to prevent this from becoming a brick. Am I to understand that the mod they do by soldering or modifying the FS_BATT_VOLTAGE are the same thing. If I do the solder LVC mode and change the FS_BATT_VOLTAGE setting as well, what will be the outcome? Thanks Mick

If you decide to set auto-pilot on ch. 7 wich button is it on the devo ? I would also like to know if there's a way to setup different flight mod via the FMOD switch (on devo 7). Thank you ps: I am a beginner btw

Hello, nice vid, one question please, do I have to have telemetry for planning missions, or I understand you wrong? I have the qr 350pro and I have learned, that I would have to buy some sensors, to get the telemetry, but for flying along gps point?

CharlitoCZ wireless yes, if not you can use your usb/pc to preplan. rule of thumb, don't use mp on a new quad until you have flown all u have and is looking for more functions. you have to just limit to the instructions i have provided or know what you are doing. don't try to use other setups or tuning or firmware. as the walkera quads were customized, recoded for RTF, where a user is not expected to use any software. see ep 86 on quick and easy, external osd data for gopro or alike.

hi, i installed mission planner but it is not opening. i installed the apm planenr it opened. so y does the mission planner not opening. it just open the dos page loading files then open the start screen of mission planner and stops. and mission planner doent load. can u know y? i have .net framework and everything is good.

How can i configure my gear switch to trigger de auto mode so i can fly my QR X350 pro in a waypoint mission?. In mission plannner the gear switch appears as 6ch but i dont have a clue how to make it to start the auto mode. I have a devo 7. Thanks in advance

Very well presentation:) For the LVC, can i set to the lowest Volts or disable it in the mission planner. As i am so reluctant to cut the wires to disable the LVC. So thought of doing this in mission planner.

Do we have to turn on 50% the throttle and then turn on the switch assigned to the auto pilot and It will take-off automatically or we have to do nothing and just click on the auto switch ? Thank you !

+Bilal Essadqi i believe the stock x350 pro auto take off at that time, different era, unlock ARM, switch to gps and you throttle up firmly to desire height. It is better known as position hold at one stage in APM. If you find a different way in the updated version, please share. Alternately is to use Mission Planner if you are experienced with assigning the switches to Auto Mode upon arming.

Hello! I've been using the mission planner with the Walkera QR X350 Pro and it works great. However my quad gets stuck in gps mode when I switch to manual mode during the flight. It happens even when I am not using the mission planner, but I was wondering if some parameter of this software could be the source of this issue. Last weekend I crashed on the asphalt because the quad got stuck in the position hold, hovering about 20 meters from the ground until it drains completly the battery. Do you think you could help-me to solve this? I never saved the original parameters of the QR X350 as you suggest. Do you have any idea of where I could get it? Thanks!

claudio, a copy of the original parameter is on the ABOUT description of this video which you can reload and recalibrate (since you are likely in a different part of the world with a diff compass declination). looks like you are loitering at 200 cm, which can mean a few things final altitute or loiter time or it thinks it already reach 0 ft (which can happen). check RTL_ALT_FINAL,0 RTL_LOIT_TIME,5000. in any case, the rule of thumb for Ardupilot is to toggle your flight mode switch to stabilize to regain control of model always, you then land manually. it is a good practice to land manually in the final moments.

Thanks for this video, it helped me with connection few years ago. Now I have Phantom 3 for aerial photography, so I am thinking to experiment with other modes on X350pro (till now I used just Stabilized, Althold, Loiter and Simple/SuperSimple). Did you tried Acro mode with stock Devo-M unit in the quad? Does it fly similarly like other racing quads (of course with difference that 350 is more heavy)? Because for now I test it just by holding the quad in the hand (with just 10% of throttle to be safe), but after switching to Acro the quad still reacts to tilting (trying to keep level) - is that normal? I though the accelerometers and tilt sensors are not operating in Acro mode... Thanks for the info!

Hey there! Acro meaning has evolved and come a long way. Racing quads today are using Cleanflight and Betaflight and it is so much easier. I am not sure the acro mode works on the Devo M. I have not tried. Long live the x350 Pro ! :) - Leo

I have tested the Sport and Acro mode - before I set ACRO_TRAINER parameter to 0 in Mission Planner (to turn off autoleveling). Still the Sport mode is self leveling (slowly). But Acro flies nice. X350 is perfect for learning to fly in Acro mode without crashing - I had finger on the switch ready to jump to GPS hold (Loiter) mode and indeed had to use it few times when I lost the control on Acro - this is really something new for me! For now I fly LOS (and without camera so the copter is bit lighter). Flying FPV with camera will be a bit different, but probably also more easier then in LOS as reactions needed will be the same no matter where the nose/camera is heading. After some time I may consider buying smaller Acro quad (preferably from Walkera as I have already Devo 10 TX). Long live the x350 pro ;-) Cheers

great updates, thanks. The F215 is a perfect size for aerobatics, the only thing is the propellers have to be very well tighten, maybe add a little hot glue or locktite. The devo 10 setup i believe is the same, just duplicate the x350 profile and rename it. Use Cleanflight, change the setting to include Airmode when in Horizon or non (acro). You get this airlift to perform flips, very elegant compared to the old school. Long live the x350 pro! - Leo

I'm seeing a 10 degree bank in the Mission planner Artificial Horizon. However, Quad is sitting on level surface. Could this represent a defective Devo-M or calibration issue. I opened the top cover and inspected the Devo-M flight controller, nothing appears to be mounted incorrectly. Is it possible the a bad parameter was passed from MP to the Devo-M. Is there a way to reset the Devo-M back to factory defaults? I am able to fly but on takeoff as suspected the quad enters a hard right bank that cannot be overcome by trim alone. hello, that will be calibrating. make sure the flight controller is stuck on tight, so it does not move. the calibrating dance must be completed and back to the level ground before the calibrating lights stop blinking. hope that helps. (don't use Mission Planner to calibrate!)

First i want to thank you for the video the most helpful on youtube about Mission planner but you must tell the configuration for devo 7 fpv , what switch button you use for auto pilot ,channel config etc , i'm really confused about those stuff Thank's in advance

Hi Ervin First you have to use the factory firmware, best to use the default 3 position mix switch. It been 2 years, and i have never used the devo 7, but instead f7, 10, f12e. You can probably assign MP channel 7 to Gear switch. See ep 25 and dronemission.com/diy-frSky-taranis-setup-6-flight-modes-apm-ardupilot.htm

Hi, For most of the RTF X350 set it comes with Devo 7 TX. Recently i just purchase X350 Pro Ver. And it comes with a Devo10 but the RX is RX705 which means it a 7 channel RX. Which it suppose to come with a 10 channel RX. But my main concern is, with the stock 7 channel RX. Can i perform, IOC, Auto take off, GPS Hold, Auto round circular cruise mode, Gimbal full brushless control. Is it enough for 7 channel RX? And the Auto round circular cruise mode is only available for Mission Planner?

Mervyn Cheryl i believe yes. without going through the specs, the thing is the x350 pro was designed for a 7 channel radio, F7. typically you use 4 channels, plus 1 flight mode channel, one for the 2-axis gimbal. You mix with a combination of two switches for different mode. Without modifying, yes it has always been 7 channels, but you can possibly setup a start/stop recording with a 10 channel radio.

Hi, nice vídeo. In order not to lose the gps, and return function on the mix switch, I tried to use the gear switch on the Devo 7 transmitter for the mission planner, but was unable to do it. Is it at all possible, or the only switch I can use to activate Misson Planner with the Devo 7 is the mix switch? I'd appreciate if you could enlighten me about it.

+Luiz Neme i cannot remember the channels, but possibly, you may assigned it to channel 7, for the gear switch. In any case, do backup your original parameters, just in case the sensors get accidentally changed and it will not bind any more.

hey Miguel, we fly the x350 pro almost every group meet still, Ryan has his painted in Army camouflage, you will see it in some future episodes. I have not hook up the Mission Planner lately. regards. - Leo

thank you for your response, I love my x350 pro, I used to only fly it in manual mode only but recently I started to get curious about MP, I was having trouble because it seems they dropped support for both it and the Devo F7 (cant access flight modes or calibration and also showed inaccurate readings in altitude and gps), tried going back to version 1.3.16 and 1.3.5 but at first look they seem broken (cant show any map at all) turns out the problem with them is that those versions are using an old API for Google Maps (unsupported), switching to Bing Satellite solves the problem. Sorry for the long comment, I hope somebody founds it useful. Greetings from Peru and long live the x350 Pro!

I'm having trouble doing this. can you show me how to do this on a mac using a QRX 350 Pro? I plug it in and I go to initial setup and it gives me a load of drone options but none of them are a qrx. please help!

+Berkd001 1 greetings. Best to post the mac question at diydrones.com but do not try to do a setup regardless. If you are new to APM, you may want to limit to exactly what is suggested on the video. Not all functions are used in x350, as it is a customized version of APM. Load, Save your parameters as a backup before you start, and write your new changes.

Hi I am having a problem with installing my 3D gimbal. The previous owner had a 2D gimbal, but i have installed my 3D gimbal on the drone but it won't bind with the transmitter. It will only bind if the 2D gimbal is connected. The owner said this is because of his flight planner settings. Any idea where this could be changed to allow my 3D gimbal to work? I am using APM Planner 2

First, the firmware is customized for Walkera, so you can only change parameters. At any time if you flash a APM firmware, you may likely have to buy a new flight controller, careful not to upgrade it with mission planner. A 3d gimbal allows you to control 2 axis and the 3rd by the gimbal controller. Check your pitch and roll channels. Power on the aircraft first, followed by the radio. Release the fixed id if you are changing radios. You can read about fixed id in RC if needed. Depending on how many channel on your radio. The gimbal is usually contolled on aux channels. Enable them active.

Hello diydrone: I have done what you told in the video and still lands in middle of nowhere. Doesn't RTL and when I check voltage in battery used, is 11,2 V. even when I had put 10,7 V. in Low Battery parameters. Also it doesn't do IOC flight mode. Is there something I missed or did wrong? Juan Carlos Parra hi there. Make sure you have the latest firmware. If you are auto landing at 11,2 V. even when you had put 10,7 V, it may seem you had lost gps signal. When the flight controller detects a lost in gps for 5 seconds, it will not try to RTL, as it knows there is no GPS. In this case, it willl attempt to land, you should toggle the radio to GPS, and back to Manual very quickly and manually fly back if you are over water.

Juan Carlos Parra if you lose GPS, it will land, as it has no where to go. at 11.2v it may not have been low voltage.

dronetestpilot Thanks for your answer, It seems there is no problem with number of satelites or GPS signal because the right light flashes about 8 times so , is OK. I fly the drone in wide open area and today I started using Way point in Mission Planner and goes fine as well, but the problem with RTL when low battery persist. I have flight the drone until the left light flashes and it just descend. Could it be somethig about the Devo F7 and that I have changed in "Device Output" parameters into: Gear-- Mix SW Flap-- Gear SW AUX2-- Aux 2 KB I did this becouse Isaw in the web that with this configutation you can control gimbal and trigger camera remotely. This is the only variation I have done to the original configuration. This configuration don´t let me change IOC flight but is OK for me. Juan Carlos Parra I have this problem also. It always lands when low voltage failsafe is triggered, regardless of what setting is used. RTL makes it land, LAND makes it land (duh ;)). The only way i can make it return to launch is by flipping the switch into RTL position(or turning of the transmitter, at which point the receiver will default to RTL. It is then locked in RTL untill the battery has been disconnected, even though the transmitter is turned on again and signal regained. Its programmed this way by default. Found no way to change this). 11,2v -> 10,7 in flight is a normal voltage drop for this quad. I have verified this through OSD. It is more than likely the landing is triggered by the low voltage setting. This problem was not always present however. I cant remember at which point it started happening. If you do find a solution, I would very much like to know it :) I will post back here if I figure it out.

I was using a TAROT 690 for aerial mapping, but I have lost it. A friend of mine has a Walkera QR X350 Pro that comes with a iLook camera, so we don't know if this drone is able to trigger on waypoits as we see it in others DIY drones. So can you do it with iLook camera?

No, back in 2014, the x350 pro did not support stick control waypoints or app. Maybe it can be modified today by following diydrones projects.

Hello Leo quick question , Can we use the MP Auto Tune , i'm using T-motors that are 920KV , anything below 500KV not recommended. or has anyone tried the Auto Tune in MP ? Thanks

i upgraded my qrx800 to 1.2 bin file since im using rx 706 reciever...can i adjust also the parameters for my qrx800 as you are doing now?...what will i do first sir?

+warrene delos reyes hi, we have never changed anything on the X800, so we cannot advice you on that. I remember seeing a video made by Hobbyking, that shows how you can makes changes using an android app. Regardless, before you make any changes, make a back up of your parameter file.

I did the LvC modification and copied your parameters failsafe etc everything was working fine I switched to return home ..it was coming got to about 10 feet .. lost power and crash.. can you explain that!

Meaure your battery voltage and see what it shows. Could be anything, so through process of elimination, maybe that could help determined. I have not mod anything, it flys stock, so I do not have any input about the LVC mod.

@@ohare100 Hi - wandering what "version" of mission control are you using? Working fine without lvc mod? I am new to this old drone, but would really like to play with mission control but not sure if it will work with the latest version of mission control? I think the main mods i have seen is add telemetry & remove lvc.. did you happen to do anything else? thanks. :)

Greetings. Mostly planes, but I recently acquired a used Vitus 4K, so that is compact to carry around if i prefer 4K. The rest are pretty old stuff but I have them ready to fly on the shelf. Xk380 is like the x350Pro, I had transferred the g3s gimbal over, so I fly that with gopro, Tali H500 and xk500 - Leo

Hi! I hope I can find helping hands here... I have no chance to get a connection between missionplanner and my APM. When I click onto "connect" at first the window "connecting Mavlink" opens like it should. But than it changes into "Trying to connect. Timout in xx (counting from 25 to 0)". After the countdown it says "Error: No Heartbeat Packets received". The Comport and the Baudrate are correctly at 57600 (in Missionplanner aswell as at the Computer). I have tried to read something about that mistake, but never found a proper answer to solve it. I tried the connection with three different Computers, but all with the same result. Looking forward hearing from you! Many thanks!!

Are you using telemetry radio or usb gor connecting? If its with radio use 57600. If with usb use 115200

***** +Richard Lushai I have tried it with both settings for the baudrate: 57600 and 115200. And also I have tried it via USB connection and telemtry. Both had the same outcomings.

inverno182 Is your APM turning on when you are connecting using only usb without the lipos being connected? If so what lights are on?

Yes, it has power via USB. Only when connecting via telemetry, I use lipo supply, via USB the lipo is disconnected. The green light for power turns n and the orange light for data recognition flashes fast.

Hello, first great video, second I inherited a QR X350 Pro but need the factory settings. Is there any chance you would have them? I think someone has changed many of them and it is very iritic when in the air. Any help would be very much appreciated. Grandpa Jake

Grandpa Jake no, do not use Mission Planner for any sort of auto tuning or compass calibration. Just follow the quick start guide for those steps.

***** I was able to get the factory settings working and it seem to be flying very stable. The Telemetry is also working perfect. My last question ( I hope lol ) is if there is a way to get more flight modes out of the Devo F7 I would like to have RTL, AUTO. and 3 flight modes if possible. Thanks again

Hello all, i have a little problem taht started after connect the Mission planner and change the low battery setting for RTL options.after I did the change semas that my motor power is not stable anymore, and my QR X350 pro when taking off, is not stable at all, so i look and change some parametes in my DEVO 10 and now all is worse... I'm sure I did change just the power to 10,5V and chosed RTL but I was play around this software!! Any ideas? Anyone can tell me ho to set correctly the paramenters in my DEVO 10? Thanks a lot to anyone and Happy new Year

Hi, great video! Is there any way I can download your param file and load it into my Qrx350 pro? Also, I'm using my taranis radio frysky rx.everything is working except I can't seem to Get it into calibration mode! Any suggestions ? Thanks!

I have a problem trying to flash my QRx350 with APM. After selecting the quad from the list, and click on the button, after about 10 seconds I get "unable to gain access to boot loader". It works ok with my cheap Chinese Arducopter clone. They have different bawd rates but otherwise the same

we saved an original factory copy at rcgroups. remember to re-calibrate, so it knows your compass location. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2085032

Very nice video, this will truly help me get started. I just came up from a knee replacement which went well. And also my new AR X350 Pro was waiting ! I have used mission planner on a 3drobotics IRIS that I had, but then returned from all the problems. So I want to use my 350 now. With your video I am sure I will be able to get started, but I do want to add Telemetry. I have one of the 3drobotics 915mhz radios, but know I will need another. Are you able to help with getting this connected? I have the newer style module, but have not problem getting what you suggest if it works. Also if you are able to help, will I be able to not only see what my 350 is doing on its mission, but be able to make changes when it is flying? Thanks so much, I sure hope this will work. the folks at Drone Mission wish you well, hope those knees are ready for more piloting. you can get telemetry off MinimOSD Extra and the telemetry module. Walkera also has telemetry, especially with the new F12E, you read it off the LCD screen. Setting waypoints over the air prove to be a challenge however, continue to read those post in RCGroups.

***** Thanks for the get well wishes, today is a much better day :-) my controller is the F7 I have seen some mods where someone soldered the telemetry from 3drobotics to the controller. But I could not get an answer on just what it would allow when on a mission. Maybe I will just order the other 1/2 of the newer telemetry module that I have and see what happens? ***** Hi, I just received the QR X350 Pro. I have Problems with the GPS. Some time (1..2 minutes) reception ok (sat Counts of MP >=7) afterwards sudden drop to sat Counts 0. Always Quad on the ground, repeating this behaviour). The GPS LED's indicates correctly 0 sat counts or >7). With this I hesitate to fly the Quad. With the APM 2.5 with ublox GPS I had never got Problems. Could one Change in the QR X350 Pro Change to a 3DR ublox GPS?

***** Dear Diydrone Thanks for the info I did the update I think the parameters are ok I load the file "qrx350pro-1.param" and I saw some of the parameters get green color and after that I did Update param.. But my drone still acting different, When I use the trottle and start in the middle position I can ear the motor with more power than when in top side.,... Any ideas? I think I need to reload the original setting in the DEVO 10 but I have no idea how to do it ;(

max. belloi hi! there is no need to change anything in the devo 10, make a copy backup if you really want to change it. as for the param, after you Load it, Write, you will need to recalibrate to your location. remember not to poke at your lipo wires while it is completing a gyro calibration, the first thing it does when power up. after you have a good gps lock, then you close the panel. a good practice, you should only throttle up, on manual pos 0, aka stablized mode, then flip to altitude hold for a preflight check at about 10 feet of the ground before each flight.

Any paramenters on the web? i check with the manual in the box seam fine to me, but I see in the middle trottle is more power than in the top??
