I had a great time at the Tinaja Hills proving grounds. The highlight of the trip was operating the all new D11...but first, here's a last minute walk around video I decided to do of it. Part 2 coming soon.

I’ve been operating doziers and all related equipment for 25 years . I’m 44 now . My favorite is the D8R and the D6R LGP . I’ve ran a 6T XW LGP that was awesome . The whistle from turbo is titillating . Too bad I’m stuck in the 6k LGP and the new 3s . Smaller con company but the best pay . I have ran a D 10 push cat that I loved and also the man of the house D9G str8 pipe . Love that too . Keep ‘em up

I've been operation equipment since 1946, I'm working a part time at the land fill ' pushing with a 1972 cat d7f military, 16' blade. It's in good shape for it's age but a little slow like me ' wish the county would upgrade to something newer and faster.

I have over 27,000 hours running the D-11’s the auto terrain is pretty sweet in the new ones for making ramps and roads. Only thing I wish Cat would change is the throttle lock, they need to put it on the joystick (one button for on/off), all are older models have it on the right panel, new one is a rotary dial on the left, amazing how many times I’ve reach for the wrong place 😁

Looking at this individual I wasn't expecting much and that's what I got nice to see other reviews on this piece of equipment I'm still looking at Komatsu
@dp.oennismaurer2053 жыл бұрын
Komatsu' might be taking the worlds largest dozer out of its lineup as sales are waning. The Cat D11 is having the upgrades it needs. I agree that the sys- tem in the back should have some kind of cover for protection. The ladder for the entry looks like it won't last long, and might get bent, or ripped off. The high sprocket design on the Caterpillar's had been in development for a long time. The biggest Liebherr dozer also uses a high sprocket set up.

Yeah, it seems to be poorly thought out, surely there’s a better place for those. I would think that if they were gonna put them there, they would put a steel cover to close over the top of them. Better yet, put them in the same place as the dead man switch, inside a door!

When you ripping you have to extend top rams out fully so you wear your ripper boot out correctly….in 30 years of operating dozers in mines never heard it’s for increased traction
@timtwing5886 Жыл бұрын
Wonder why there's so much confusion on things like this? I mean it sounds good and right that extending the cylinders would bring the dozer down for more traction but? Idk I've never ran a dozer but would love to operate this machine.

I also was at Tinaja hills also drinks and dinner on CAT the night before. High drives do not do to good backing up a hill. The reversing fan is not new we had on our 9 N and R and T's. Also nice to see that they listened to me on the black paint. On a new shiny machine at night the lights would glare making it hard to see.

@timtwing5886Ай бұрын
There's no reason for Caterpillar to do this. The only reason komatsu built the d575 was for a specific mining job. The dozer took so much money to produce and cost so much in sales. Caterpillar is not going to do that because the d11 already cost so much!
@aliveoutside2483 жыл бұрын
“Like let’s do a walk around yo. It like dozers dirt or some sh*t or somethin...”
@leedawson83013 жыл бұрын
The two best upgrades for this dozer is the doors and the reverse fan system. Rocks rolling off will kill that pretty ladder, the kat walk is nice but looks like it would get in the way when taking out trees and getting in close to high wall work. The extra horse power in reverse means you'll dig in deeper faster..... Blade pitch....dig, carry, dump....in soft material like you're in there all you'll need is carry and dump, in rocky material the dig option is awesome. In some muddy rocky situations the pitch helps keep you from hang ups. All in all the new D11 is nice. Those flashy lights would be a distraction at night for the first day or two. Most flashy lights junk out a cb, I'm curious if those do?

You would need to stair step yourself up to a machine like this. It's designed for high volume work and cost a ton of money to use and own. Only the best drivers would be considered for seat time in this. That said there is no demand for drivers of these because every operator in the industry is already up for consideration to sit in one.

@TheIrongutz3 жыл бұрын
I operate both dozers and the CAT is far superior in most areas except ripping. The 475 gear ratio and planted weight make it slightly better for ripping tough ground. For side cutting steep coal seems the agility of the D11T can’t be matched. Everything from cab design, reliability, operator comfort, power, gear ratios and smooth undercarriage makes this dozer superior. Trouble is, the Komatsu 475 is almost twice as cheap with better support and companies here choose it for this reason only.
