In this video I show you a simple but useful modification to cover the walking foot teeth on a China Leather Shoepatcher sewing machine. Being made for use on softer more forgiving shoe leathers. this low cost leather sewing machine leaves marks in veg tan leathers. This mod fixes that!

Cool Idea. Just a suggestion for you: When you mentioned that the channel will get filled, you could just take some cotton from a cotton ball and ram it in the hole when dipped to keep it clear. :)

I have had better luck with spray or liquid (dip) "truck bed liner" on the foot. It dries to a stiff, textured finish. It's $11 a can at discount stores, in the automotive department or most tool stores. Better then Plasti-dip.

New at this, great tip trying to lean all I can, just purchased a cobbler machine. The thread that came with it is very small, and the thread I use for hand sewing is much bigger and just barely fits through the holes in the bobbin shuttle and has a lot of drag on it. wont go through the needle, so my question is , for sewing leather what is the biggest size thread and needle do I need to get and what about the hole size in the bobbin shuttle, can you make them bigger or not because I want to use the same size thread top and bottom. Need all the help I can get thank you.
