Back in August 2021 I happened to be in Heidelberg again. Mid August coming from Karlsruhe I recorded a walk in Mannheim, Weinheim and Heppenheim before taking a tram to Heidelberg. The weather was suddenly awful in the evening. After the rain stopped (had no umbrella or jacket with me) I walked the street in the opposite direction compared the the first part of the video here. The atmosphere is pretty different though in the end it was also a good experience: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmnXgpp-rMurnck

Must be 15 years since I was last there, we did spend an evening in the Student Union, near the river. Don't think we would pass for students any more.

Can you do Norwegian cities?
@poptravelorg3 жыл бұрын
Norway and Scandinavia in general surely is on the list. Will see when budget, time and health-safety allows a trip there. I've been to Oslo many years ago and to all major Swedish cities. Besides Helsinki there's more to see in Finland though I hope to then to get even into Russia... For now there are a few walking videos from cities in Norway on other channels

@poptravelorg3 жыл бұрын
Paris and then the Camino de Santiago is Spain was planned for 2020. I still have a voucher for a flight there I think though for the moment that trip is postponed. There are plenty of Paris walks already. I hope that next year more travels France and Italy will happen again - as well as Scandinavia and Russia

No wonder Germany has record high Covid new cases. You see very few wearing masks. It is very different from what we see in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, New Zealand, etc. where the Covid cases are far less. Thank you for the nice video. We miss the beautiful town.

@@charleslucern6496 In Heidelberg from the beginning to the end of Oct. 2020 the weekly incidence of Coivid-19/100.000 rose from 14 to 100. About as many people were wearing masks outside in September as in Oct and Nov. I can tell you one thing the Incidence didnt rise because of that.. But yeah Germany sucks ass with our low vaccination rate atm.
@charleslucern64963 жыл бұрын
Wearing masks is just as important as getting Covid vaccinations. The 7 day average daily new cases for Germany published on Oct. 25, 2020 was 9,800. It was because people had moved from outdoor to indoor for their activities, but not wearing masks. Long story short, too many Europeans and Americans refuse to wear masks, whereas 90% of Asian countries have very different mentality due to their experiences with SARS in 2004/2005. Today, Hong Kong, Taiwan are having single numbers for daily cases. Japan only has 150 daily. Those countries have high rate for both vaccinations and wearing masks (even outdoor). You will see the difference should you watch walking tours in Tokyo, Taipei, Seoul, Hong Kong, etc. on KZbin.
@poptravelorg3 жыл бұрын
I remembering traveling around the world in 2004 when there were still temperature checks at airports due to SARS. It never really got to be a problem in Europe back then. Masks may be aroubd 20% effective for lowering transmissions though the main problem in Germany right now is that areas with low vaccinations have increased hospitalizations. Masks are mandatory indoors in public transport anyways. We'll see how it goes. At one point it will go endemic with masks or not. With the current experience over the past 2 years surely masks will stay more in the memories and public as they are in Asia
