That's a nice compliment. The last 10-15 years haver been very good for Rotterdam, especially the centre changed a lot. There are many architecture firms located in the city, some are internationally quite famous.

I wish I could share your appreciation for all this new architecture. I find most of the new buildings extremely ugly and depressing. Walking through the streets of Rotterdam leaves me feeling drained and exhausted.

I have the same feeling. The buildings all want to be a bit out of the box. There’s absolutely no connection between the new buildings. They are all stand alone’s. Rotterdammers call every new building an icon. They are not. Some pre-war buildings are nice, but nothing special. Rotterdam want to be so hip so they can compete with other cities. The one ‘hip’ street is called Witte de Witt. A street were cars drive and you sit next to a garden fence with plastic plants. This city has a long way to go. The Depot, Markthal and new CS are not special enough to be mentioned in international magazines.

Would be nice to make a video of all neighborhoods in Rotterdam. Like Rotterdam West, Heemraadsingel, Mathenesselaan, Burgermeester Meineszlaan, Delfshaven. Kralingen neighbourhood is also very nice this time of year. I have walked there last week and was stunned how beautiful that area of Rotterdam is.

Mooie route, maar vanaf het begin heb je wel een bus, tram fiets, auto of de brommer nodig om bij de winkels te komen. Maar Rotterdam is gewoon een prachtige en gezellige stad, dat is een feit. Door de brede straten, pleinen en highbuildings heeft het ook een Amerikaans uiterlijk. Vreemd is dat het niet druk is op straat, vooral met moslims, maar dat hangt er weer vanaf op welk tijdstip deze video is gemaakt.
