It's incredible how much nicer Echo Park and Silver Lake have become. When I was a kid in the 80's and mid 90's, Sunset Blvd in both areas was so dangerous and there were no good restaurants other than Taix which has been there for a very long time!

exactly man! Silverlake neighborhood was the 1st to be gentrified then eventually Echo Park and recently Eagle Rock and Highland Park. These were working class neighborhoods that got gentrified and the working class got priced out or sold their properties to developers and hipsters moved in.

My dad would tell me stories how bad was in the 80’s at Echo Park. In early 2000’s, I’ve also seen some issues growing up there

I lived in Echo Park 38 years in the Angelino Heights area. Most beautiful place around and Carroll Street is where all the Victorian houses are just beautiful.

To many of us who live here Echo Park doesn't stop until Coronado Terrace. So, you where still in Echo Park as you walked west on Sunset. Very much enjoyed your walk.

Lived here for almost 10 years in the late 2000’s. Studio apartment was $900. I turned 21 in this neighborhood. Goldroom was my first bar. I enjoyed my early 20s in that neighborhood. ❤️

Another awesome tour AK! Echo Park is definitely a local hipster favorite and not many tourists venture out east. Love Sticky Rice and Senor Fish too! There's a Sticky Rice stall inside the Grand Central Market also! When u saw that large crowd in the middle of your video, those were Dodger fans walking from Dodger Stadium and spilling into Echo Park maybe to hit up restaurants/bars cuz parking at Dodger Stadium is super expensive and also a hassle exiting.

Nice video. You walked by 2 of my dad’s hair shops. You made me laugh when you renamed American Barbershop as American Barbecue, lmao! They’re my dad’s competition anyways, lol. Btw I just want to make 1 little correction if you don’t mind. The street that ran under the bridge of Sunset Blvd is not Reservoir St. That street is named Glendale Blvd. Reservoir street actually detaches from Sunset Blvd behind Taix Restaurant and leads up a hill.
@mymusicmouse3 жыл бұрын
Right! Glendale Blvd. starts at 1st St./Beverly Blvd. passes Echo Park Lake then under Sunset Blvd. through Edendale and uphill to Silverlake and into Atwater Village and then into Glendale.

It can also get very dangerous around there i grew up in angelino heights in the old homes area and it can get sketchy from time to time. I remember when i moved in as a kid there used to be a lot of shootings and gangs around and there still are u just dont know about it until it happens.

I lived in Echo Park in the 90s my house is still there my brother was there in the 70s if they take down the French restaurant Taix it will never be the same again that is so sad. I hate the constant building and gentrification they are destroying inner-city neighborhoods that have unique character.
