Without Columbo, episode "Forgotten Lady", this movie would probably have fallen completely into oblivion.

That is why I came here after watching an episode of Columbo. Not mention a song referenced in the programme called "Speak Low". Thanks Columbo and Katie S for posting.

Underrated film. Would love to see an remastered version someday. ❤️

Donald O'Connor danced and swooned with some very beautiful ladies over the years. All of them would say how absolutely wonderful he was. I think its safe to say, he had the cream of the crop as far as beauty and talent that he partnered with. Maybe an unrecognized lifetime achievement award, but a wonderful legacy he left behind. In my heart, and many others, Donald O'Connor was truly the real deal. There's nothing he couldn't do. Thank you for keeping his memory alive.

Columbo: Forgotten Lady, brought me here. A classic and beautiful era of movies when you could innocently watch films and lose yourself in the story without being "preached" at.

Can’t believe they haven’t transferred this great movie to dvd, the only version on disc I can find is a transfer from a VHS tape so hesitant as not sure what the quality would be like.

I don’t see a DVD / Digital version happening anytime soon so I’d take the chance! I’d be interested to know how you got on. It’s a beautiful film and deserves preservation.

Unfortunately, all of the copies I’ve seen of this film have been VHS transfer quality. I decided to take a chance and buy a digital download from a website which sells old films and it is the clearest version I’ve seen, albeit still bad quality (this snippet is from that download). Hopefully in the future it will be remastered, as it is such a wonderful film.

@@vinylmisfit2165 I bit the bullet and got the film, But not to take anything away from the work involved in the transfer it is not good. the picture and sound suffer badly and its not a pleasure to watch or listen to.

I guess Janet Leigh is Richard Rogers' wife in MGM's "With a Song in My Heart" which portrays the life and work of Laurenz Hart.

Columbo let her go, this will be the second time Columbo allowed the real killer to go for someone else.. The other was taking Faye Dunaway, instead of her daughter.

I'm not familiar with Janet Leigh, but I've always liked Donald O'Conner's singing and dancing. However after hearing Nat Cole do this song, at kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWSUdqmleb6Vq9k, I cant watch what we're seeing here. Seems to me that Nat very gently brings out the double-entendres in the lyrics; Donald doesn't seem to be aware of them. And the most erotic lyric, one that today might be considered in promotion of stalking and sexual assault today, is missing. Nat parks his car outside her door and remains there until its light! He finally hears from her, and what she says is that if Nat tries to kiss her, "she'll cry." Next thing you know, Nat is singing "I dry her tears all through the night." How it got to be night, even though Nat has waited until it's light, I don't know.
@lauradem.34952 жыл бұрын
I thought the part where he dries tears all through the night is because he gave her a lot of kisses, and I remember I was like aww 🥰. But now I think his opinion makes more sense...
