Walking NYC : 6th Avenue from Central Park to 34th Street (October 16, 2021)

I take a walk along 6th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan from Central Park to 34th Street. Along the way I pass by the Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park, and the Macy's Building. There was also a pretty cool street fair from Rockefeller Center that ended at 42nd Street.

This brings me memories! At 51st and 6th (1290 6th Avenue) where there is the Santander Bank branch, it used to be a Coconuts Records store back in the 1990s - and when Mariah Carey released her Christmas album in 1994, she did a meet-and-greet there, and after 12 hours waiting, I got to meet her and say hello. Still one of my favorite parts of Midtown to this day. And come January, I will be staying in the area for a week.

Hey, AK, glad you're showing so much of NYC. Two things, first kudos to you for showing people how much you can see in NY just by walking or using 2-wheeled conveyance. A mere two hours and you can cover a lot of ground, stop and check out stores, museums, whatever, no need for cars except to get out of town, lol, so keep 'em in a garage. Second, people on YT watching the old films of NYC in the 50s, 60s and 70s saying how they wish they could be in that NYC, except in that NYC you and your other YT buddies' cameras would all be stolen within an hour of you starting a run. The air was usually horrible, people burned their garbage back then, and heavy industry was still in the Bronx and Queens. Even the Sesame Street theme song longed for a place where the "air is clean", because it was really dirty. Especially bad by the 70s. I grew up in it, I miss some of the things, the old stationary store soda fountain shops, German and Jewish delis and bakeries, the theaters, the old mom and pop pizza places, and so on. In the 70s the subway was turning to shit, now it's a gleaming stream of clean metal trains, video displays and low noise. I know still needs some work, but wow, what a change. You recently walked my old neighborhood, Columbia U. Keep at it, friend and fellow NYer, you're doing a service not just for today but for tomorrow's history. I'll be watching.

Action Kid: Love your videos. Just a note because I am confident you care about accuracy: The office towers on the west side of 6th Avenue that you zoom in on at around 6:40 are certainly not Art Deco. They are classic examples of the International Modernist style built circa the late 1950s.
