It’s nice seeing “regular” neighborhoods. My great Aunt lived in Astoria near Ditmars. I was there in the 80’s. My mother from FL had come up and I surprised her. The look on her face was priceless when I walked into my Aunts.

I stayed at a Marriott in Dutch Kills for about a week. I took the 7 into the city every morning for tourist activities. It was a nice stay & met a lot of cool ppl. I walked to Astoria to a few places to eat & a couple coffee shops on my down time coming from the city. Much better experience than being stuck in Manhattan.

Steinway St has turned into a business graveyard unfortunately. Over the years the extremely high rent prices and online shopping has slowly destroyed small businesses.
@cesarrivera2864 жыл бұрын
Those leases man. It makes people have to jack up there prices on everything just to make the business profitable. Steinway ain't the same. You simply walk by now. I miss the KB toys and the EB games days.

Yeah it's a shame what happened to Steinway Street over the years.

Yeah I was about to say. Socrates is by the water. I still regret never going to Queens Comfort to see Rob Swift DJ. Legendary DJ out of Queens. Never went to that Blend but I’ve been to Blend On The Water. DJ Camilo (another DJ from Queens) is involved with Blend and I believe also All The Right in Corona Ave.

Hello Action Kid! It's incredible that you're from Astoria (I had no idea) and that you started this tour at Athens Square park! I visited Astoria last March and stayed at an Airbnb right across the street from Athens Square! The group I was with actually had a meeting at Athens Square on our first morning together. I was there for a week and walked around Astoria a lot, especially Steinway Street (and I was up and down 30th St every day, too, just to get to Steinway). When I watched you the other day in Astoria (a few days ago) I was longing to go back there. (You were close to Steinway St that night, but not exactly there.) (FYI, I went to Astoria there for a service trip (missions trip) to do outreach to local Arabic-speaking Muslims. I'd like to go back there to see some of them again.)

For anyone who lives in NewYork city now & has been living there at least 15 years PLEASE tell me if the demographics are pretty much the same as let’s say in the year 2001, just in my personal opinion NYC doesn’t seem as diverse as it was back in 2000 or earlier...my first visit to Queens NY was in 1988 & I’ve been visiting NYC ever since however I moved from Norfolk Virginia to Stockton California 3 years ago & I haven’t been to NYC in over 6 years, the last time I was there it seemed a lot slower & not the same as my first 15 visits to NYC from 1988 to 1996..For you long time NYC residents do you see any big differences in NYC yourselves or is my perception off ? Thanks for replying 🙏 I will be back in NYC March 2021 so I will get another chance to see how it is now.
