Allison presents her experience on the Poland-Ukraine border, where she engaged in anti-trafficking efforts. She discusses how to live life intentionally, finding something worth dying for in order to freely live. Allison Byrd serves as Unbound Now’s Europe Strategy Director, leading the Ukraine crisis response and ongoing programming to identify and serve survivors of trafficking in partnership with regional law enforcement.
Allison graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies with a B.A. in International Affairs. She is currently pursuing her law degree at Texas A&M University.
During university, Allison interned at the White House in the Office of Economic Initiatives. While there, she assisted with the White House Human Trafficking Summit, the roll-out of related executive actions, and the annual meeting of the President’s Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Human Trafficking. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

It's interesting to consider the theme "Memento Mori" in the context of Allison's experiences. While facing life and death situations, she's found her purpose in giving her life away to help others find freedom and safety.

It's important to acknowledge the complexities and challenges in these situations. While it's great to help, we must also consider the larger systems at play and work towards long-term solutions.

While their intentions may be noble, it's crucial to ensure that efforts like this are well-coordinated and effective. Good intentions alone won't solve complex problems.

Good talk Those of us who are fortunate enough to be able to chose what we want to do with our lives, should certainly set aside a lot of time to help those, who are not fortunate enough to do as they want with their lives.

This is a hard one for me. My relatives were gassed at Treblinka. Ukrainians and Poles collaborated with Nazis. I guess it is a new generation and they want to show the world they aren't the same ruthless people who murdered millions of victims!
