Manila was considered the "Pearl of the Orient" until World War Two. It was occupied by Japsnese forces and 90% destroyed by the end of February 1945 due to the "Battle of Manila". It was rebuilt, but lost it's former glory. Manila was the second or third most destroyed city of World War Two.

@hansvonschlader82272 ай бұрын
Well, if you think that's pretty neat, then you would love Cambodia and Vietnam it's way friendlier than Ph. Thailand by contrast is the opposite, rather rude there. The worst hands down is Laos. I worked by contract in Asia for 22 years and know these Countries inside & out. I was in Ph for 3.5 years specifically Manila and Butuan City. It's over-run with shibo ( crystal meth) My favorite is Vietnam. Super friendly, low crime, no terrorists (unlike Ph that has full-on terrorists that cut the head of a Canadian guy) Indonesia is ok but a lot of terrorists, Major crime too. Health care sucks in Cambodia. Vietnam is the all around winner. Very educated people, wives with traditional valu. My wife is Vietnamese. They all speak English and very good people. Anyway, that's a quick snapshot from someone who actually lived in Asia and can see past these little fantasy videos

I wish one or more U.S. and/or foreign corporations would set up shop in the Philippines. Open up Subic Bay again for the US Navy. When the Philippines evicted the US Navy from Subic Bay, 10K jobs went with them. The American companies, American corporate industries, foreign companies and corporations and Subic Bay would help to alleviate some of the poverty. Reopening SB would be very beneficial for both the Philippines and the US Navy, especially since China is flexing its military muscle in the region.
