Moops guy here, lol. Thank you for showcasing Italy my favorite country. I'm half Italian and lived in Rome for 15 years, I traveled extensively throughout Italy in my time there. I highly recommend you rent a car in Rome and travel to and around Tuscany, the region is only a couple of hours drive from Rome. There are so many amazing towns in the region other than Pisa and Florence, many are very similar to Matera. Montalcino, Pitigliano, Lucca, Montepulciano, Montemerano. Saturnia has incredible thermal baths. All places off the beaten track and not too touristic. Amazing region with a rich history including the fascinating Etruscans, easy to drive around and so much to offer. I have a good friend who runs an amazing agriturismo near Saturnia. He would be more than happy to put you up there.

Also been to Italy about 5x. My first was in 1957. I also left at about 18 and turned 19 in August of 1957. Left from Michigan to Quebec by car with 3 buddies, then a 9 day boat ride to England, crossed channel by boat... 3 months.... total expenses about $1,100.oo. I kept notes. In 1983 I took my wife and 3 teen kids on the same exact itinerary... by plane of course. That trip in August.... planes and busses and trains were much quicker in 1983.

I have a Roman coin my father found under our village house in Turkey. Its so interesting to me that people from ancient times have used it and it changed owners and locations many times and now its with us. It just fascinates me

Speaking of old cities, Cadiz Spain is the oldest inhabited city in the western world. Very historical with Phoenician, Roman, Muslim, and Christian ruins, historical landmarks. One problem is that it has been damaged by wars over the centuries. I’ve made a few videos there; you’d definitely love it. However, Matera’s intact infrastructure is impressive - it definitely stands out as such.

I agree that Italy is fascinating. The history of Italy has seen over centuries gives you goosebumps to think about. The first time I went to Rome it was to be a two week trip to several cities in Italy, however there was so much history and details to Rome itself that we canceled everything else for a later date and stayed the two weeks right in Rome. Each part of Italy has it's own stories and to this day it amuses me how the people in one part of Italy have trouble understanding people in other parts because of the difference in dialects .

hi Gabriel, Many historians translate much of European history came hunters and gatherers and are tribes which is something you don't hear much anymore these days associated people from countries rather than tribes or kingdoms which is what Europe consisted of. Tribes like Visigoths, Celts, Vikings, Slavs, Saxon, Norman there are many different groups from all over Europe it's very convoluted very difficult to pin down all these groups plus they travel throughout Europe and intermixed through these travels.

I highly recommend the DJI. Great stabilization, good picture quality, good audio. I use the Osmo Action but the Pocket is supposed to be good as well so it's worth looking into.

Matera is said to be having this immense spiritual energy of Gaia, but was used through time for dark magic and rituals, including human sacrifice and cannibalism, and is said to still be attracting this kind of people. That is why the energy is that weird and dark makes you wanna leave But originally it is a powerful energy, that is not bad at all, but has been inverted and used that way One more reason, it was shut down and forbidden to enter.

I read that the foot of Italy was originally a Greek colony before the Romans conquered it. The Greeks concept of freedom and democracy is probably overplayed. Athens had 100,000 slaves working on its farms and down its silver mines. The Spartans also enslaved their neighbouring Greek state. At least the Romans offered Roman citizenship to the other Italian states they conquered.
