Walking To The Southernmost Point Of WALES - But Where In Wales Is It?

Thank you so much for another most interesting video. Brings back memories of a long time ago. 54 years ago I studied at Atlantic College, St. Donat's Castle near Llantwit Major. Last year my wife and I had a wonderful holiday week in Porthcawl. Keep up the good work!

Glad you enjoyed it. I did a walk past St Donat's earlier in the year and had a look at the history of the place (surprised who visited as part of William Randolph Hearst's entourage). I remember visiting as a kid, it was an open day or fete the college used to hold in the summer.

I always thought it was Rhoose point. Before all the development some 30 years ago we used to ride our bikes from Barry to the old quarry. And in a hedge used to be an old sign just like a street sign type thing saying "most southerly point of wales". So there has always been a sign there, just most of the time it was covered in brambles. Oh I've also just come back from tinkinswood after seeing your video on it last night.

Yep, Rhoose is the most southerly although there's probably not that much in it. Breaksea point seemed quite dangerous considering how many shipwrecks there are in the area. What did you think of Tinkinswood, quite a big stone to move without modern machinery.

@@flydriveexplore yes without a doubt.spoke to a guy who knew quite a lot about these chambers. We've been there before it's about 20 by bike and today was lovely. like I said I subbed to your channel last night so I thought I'll go there today as it was nice. I also found out something interesting about a small cave in Goldsland woods near by. It might be a bit under whelming but worth an investigate.

It's was the first time I've really visited. The WWII sea defences were interesting as well as the number of old shipwrecks.

Funny you should say Breaksea Point was considered the Southern most part of South Wales, Nah, I was told in the Early 60's it was Rhoose Point, I new where breaksea point was but never ever thought it was important as it was within Aberthaw power station, absolutely nobody I knew thought it was the most southerly point. (and thats from a very long time ago)(

Breaksea is the most southern point when the tide is out. You can walk right out to the water inlets

That big round structure was the cold water inlet for the power station.
