This episodes literally gets Basilosaurus’s habitat backwards by claiming it was an oceanic animal that was poorly suited to shallow waters (it was the opposite), up to and including claiming that it normally didn’t occur in Egypt (in spite of the fact its remains were found there in large numbers).

Pretty much haha

@@HodgePodge7 This is an epic fail given that we already knew about this back in 1998. Ironically, the dominant open-water apex predator of the Late Eocene was Otodus sokolovi (descended from O. auriculatus). So much for the idea of mammals usurping sharks.

Basilosaurus ribs kinda Contradict its vertebrae. In a sense they can give someone the idea that the animal could have been a deep diver.

I love this episode all the wide variety of strange creatures and also the unusual predator prey relationships like sharks eating primates. The Eocene is a great time period because all the animals are so werid whereas when it gets closer to the present the animals become more and more similar to what we're used to!!

The Andrew Sarchus I went to school with was related, on his mother's side, to some O'Brian's from Dublin. Andy, and his brother Jim, were great guys but they had nasty tempers when provoked. Last I heard of Andy Sarchus was that he was working on an oil rig off Scotland.

Does anybody know WHERE in Florida the crew shot the sequence for the Andrewsarchus & Embolotherium?
@speedracer2008 Жыл бұрын
I heard that scene was actually shot in Mexico, where they shot Land of Giants.

@speedracer2008 Really?! You wouldn't happen to know where in Mexico specifically would you?
