Lawrence Witmer used the "overbuilt beak" argument before the isotope analyses came about in 2014, after which workers very much settled on Gastornis being a herbivore, because the isotope analyses are pretty conclusive evidence, and Gastornis having a powerful beak is hardly any sort of argument for carnivory now, since it's nothing unusual for herbivores who feed on tough vegetation to have strong and powerful jaws.

I saw this series in the American version for the first time back in 2007 when I was seven and I loved it and I’ve watched the show every now and then ever since, mostly in the British version. I absolutely love how you explain every little known detail about the animals, the stories and the production and how our knowledge of the animals has changed in the past 20 years. Even though I was so young when I first watched it, I understood everything and I was never frightened or confused or upset at the death scenes, the fight scenes, the danger scenes and the mating scenes.

Excellent review, love the atmosphere you create with the music and sound effects. Yes you will notice a LOT of reused footage in anything Directed by Jasper James. (Walking with Beasts, Prehistoric Park) Can’t wait for the next review. - The ARC Minister

Whales do in fact hear with their lower jaw. Their eardrums have become non-functional, and the fat-filled cavities in the lower jawbone transfer vibrations to the inner ear.

Though Gastornis is a herbivorous giant bird, I don't doubt it could eat meat, since just eating plants for your entire life isn't that good for a diet

Long before Walking with Beasts came out I all ready knew of Mammoths, Sabre Toothed Cats and Woolly Rhinos from books, so it was very exciting when Walking with Beasts brought these Animals to live despite that the old movie or obscure documentary had already done that job years before.

9:02 It’s also worth noting that this show came out the same year as _Shrek,_ itself often noted for this then-innovative texturing technique.

According to Wikipedia, there are four species belonging to Propalaeotherium. But on the other hand, it says it "was an early genus" instead of saying that it "is an extinct genus." What do you think? Anyone?
