Late 40's memory.....in my youth driving to the sea at Kimmeridge we used the road in front of Creech Grange that led up the hill to the summit and that wonderful view of the far away sea. Sometimes our old Citroen wouldn't be able to get up the hill and we had to back all the way down and go round through Corfe. WONDERFUL Walk - many thanks for reviving the memories.

Thank you. Yes, that road up to the ridge is quite a climb!

Thanks Dave, really liked this walk. All my years living in Dorset were spent mostly cycling, I never walked the countryside and never had time to research the history, so find your videos incredibly interesting and inspiring. Also love to see Logan bouncing along.❤

It really is some of the best lowland walking country that Britain has to offer around Corfe Dave, I love it. The walks are so varied and the views are fantastic wherever you go. I always use the New Inn as my goto watering hole when I'm down that way, the garden is so peaceful and the view across to the ridge just sets it off. Lovely stuff!

Lovely walk Dave. If we ever came back to England to live I would choose Dorset. So much calmer than Kent where I originated many years ago! We would even get a whippet and call him Loganair, they fly like aeroplanes don't they? 🐈🛩

That would be a great name for a Whippet!

Thank you. I have been regularly running since I was a young lad & indeed was quite a serious 400m athlete (!). Years of "pounding" on the knees has taken a toll I fear. I am not in any pain at all .... just general stiffness in my legs due to age! I am thrilled that I can still take part in 10K races with Fiver (my younger dog) despite being 62 years old & weighing well over 15 stone! I dislocated my hip playing Rugby about 30 years ago & I remember the Doctor telling me at the time that, at some stage in the future, I would probably be reminded of it! Thanks for the concern & indeed thanks for watching.

You certainly pack a lot into your miles on your walks! So much of interest in this one. Did I spot a pelican in that stained glass window in the church? If so I wonder what the story was behind that! After a few dry videos you upped your quota of pubs but I bet Logan is thinking you must do better on the Pipers crisps!!
@DaveFord6 ай бұрын
The visit to The New Inn came at just the right time during the walk!
@excession30764 ай бұрын
"The pelican was believed to pierce its own breast with its beak and feed its young of its blood. It became a symbol of Christ sacrificing himself for man - and because of this was frequently represented in Christian art." The legend predates Christianity and was adopted by the early church. Look out for them, they are quite common in windows and paintings.

I can’t help but reflect that if someone wanted to erect a structure such as the Grange Arch today the local council would probably refuse planning permission. But if it’s old then quick slap a listing on it and have it looked after by the NT.

Yes, I guess it would be a challenge to build it these days!

If you go to the "Dave's Countryside Walks" Facebook Page and type in "Church Knowle" in the "Search" option - that will bring up the post for the walk. The last picture in that post is a map of the walk. I hope that helps?
