A fantastic walk Dave & Logan. I used to live in Marlborough about 20 years ago and had lovely walks along the old railway following the Og Valley. The Marlborough Downs are a lovely part Wiltshire. Thank you for the happy memories 😊

Thank you Vicky. We filmed another walk from Barbury Castle to Ogbourne St George earlier this week - it should be out in a few months.

Good evening Dave i have passed that lovely village now i wish i had stopped to have a look at the time i was on my way to the lovely village of Albourne great video and of course stunning views it looked quite a flat walk so that would be nice great pub for a nice pint 😊
@DaveFord2 ай бұрын
Thanks Craig. The route was undulating on the Eastern side of the route but nothing major. A great walk for views, for sure.

That was a truly magical walk Dave.The scenery was just out of this world, and those cottages were just gorgeous, including that wonderful church. The history behind some of those buildings are incredible. When i see the history and the architecture of these buildings it really does add a new dimension to the incredible people who built them. Thanks again Dave and also super Logan.🦮

Hello Dave. That's a great area for scenery, as you showed. That old railway track bed, which is now a wonderful footpath and bridleway is quite delightful. Three years ago, I walked from Ogbourne back along the track into Marlborough. Then, a little while later, we walked northwards as far as Chiseldon. Going back to the pub you visited. It was not too long ago when it had a date for closure, but it was literally saved at the last minute by the local people who stepped in and purchased it. Now its a thriving business once again.

I am glad they managed to save the pub!

I must have walked the Ridgeway stretch on both the two times I have walked that long distance trail. The first time many years ago, I stayed in a converted stable at Ogborne St George with a host that treated me like an extra equine guest!! Glad you survived the cows you were well outnumbered! And it would have been rude not to visit the pub as it was open! Lovely summer scenery - thanks for sharing the video.
@DaveFord2 ай бұрын
Thank you Jean. It was tricky with the cows as they were blocking the only obvious exit from the field (normally I would try an alternative way around) but fortunately they were all good natured!

Lovely walk again Dave. It looks a great area for walking. Dont know the area that well but i do know there are still racing stables in Ogbourne Maizey. A lovely lady called Emma Lavelle now trains there but its quite an historic yard thats been there a long time i beleive.
@DaveFord2 ай бұрын
Thank you. Yes you are correct about Emma Lavelle. I believe that part of her racing stables (Bonita Racing Stables) date back to the 1890's.

It’s obvious a coincidence but having stayed in Swanage 3 years on the trot and walked many of your walks (thank you) you now put one out there from my area. I’ve walked the Marlborough Downs and surrounding Ridgeway many times and never get bored of the views and scenery. Keep doing your thing Dave.
@DaveFord2 ай бұрын
Thank you. I was filming a walk at Barbury Castle & Ogbourne St George earlier this week for a video that will be coming out early in the new year. I hope to film a few more walks now in Wiltshire - there are so many stunning locations.

Bradbury Castle looks like an interesting walk, looking forward to that one!
@waltjacob37762 ай бұрын
@ The walk from barbury castle to Avebury is easy enough or in the other direction walk from the car park to ogbourne st Mazey, that’s a bit harder if you do the circular walk. Definitely research your walk first and enjoy the views.

That house for sale piqued my interest, so purely for research purposes I looked it up. Very nice indeed but with only 5 bedrooms I’d be slumming it Dave.

Hi Dave, I think you are quite mean to your viewers posting these beautiful summer walks as we head into the darkest days of winter!!! Especially as I'm not a morning person and absolutely despair at how early it gets dark at the moment. On the other hand, so many walks to look forward to next year, so all's not lost. As I mentioned before, I'm currently looking after my daughters Whippet (just when it's not so much fun taking him for walks). I'm going to have to demand some Whippet time in the future and follow in your footsteps, (though maybe not so many). Lovely video, Thank you.
@DaveFord2 ай бұрын
Thank you. I have recently filmed a few "Winter walks" (where Logan has to wear his coat!), so they will be along soon! Thanks for watching.

In that area alone, there’s loads of walks, I use Explorer 157 map. I’ve just come back from swanage, we did the 2 rivers walk(wareham) always do Arne plus Worth mertravers ? We enjoy your videos. Cheers.

Thank you. I must add Arne to my list of walks in Dorset next year.
