@@HatredPrime The original kobol has some specific features on the sound level that made it different and desirable at ghe era of the Kingston of the monosynths. With the very s'appelle envlopes, and the powerful overdrive of the filter, the kobol had sounds unmatched by moog or ARP, etc... This is not the average monosynth.

its useful to have a dozen or so 3.5mm male jacks (the kind bought to make cables) and keep them nearby for "dead jacking" so you can easily patch in/denormal connections like the LFO to pitch. it beats having a cable plugged in/hanging across the face of the synth.
@salosling34049 ай бұрын
So right out of the box new, mine won't drone on its own without MIDI or a patch cable plugged into 'gate in' *EVEN IF THAT CABLE ISN'T PATCHED IN TO ANYTHING ELSE*. Do i have a faulty unit? this is my 4th behringer desktop and never had this happen before....

Thank you for this excellent presentation. This box is really fun to use. I am sampling it into the MPC as I use it w a keystep w the sequencer and then chop the samples onto the pads for further composition. From drums to leads, drones, and fm bells, that thing can do a lot!

Thank you for the very clear and concise walk through. I'm familiar with synths but patching is something I've never really bothered to get my head around, until now. The Kobol sounds great, it's very different to anything I've owned before, it's quirky but just invites you to play. Everything is very simple yet works in synergy.

Wow newbie to synths but I do like the sound of this synth. So glad you posted this with explanations. Do you have a step by step on creating a sound. This is great, don’t get me wrong. It’s just my lack of knowledge. Thanks again.
@robotussin_synths8 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for the comment. I can do a step-by-step guide if you like. Very basically, every analogue synth works the same - an oscillator vibrates to create a tone. Usually synths have two oscillators that trigger every time you press a key. Two together means the sound is thicker and richer. This tone runs through a filter, which filters bits out, then into an amplifier which changes the sound over time. This synth works like that. Most do. That's the basics and then there are lots of interesting ways to change that. Do you own a synth? If you can, you should buy a cheap one like this one and play around. I'd be happy to help with any questions!

Thnk you! Yes have a Behringer MS 1 that I am using to learn programming basics. I realize that there are similar basics but they all have some unique differences. As I learn more, difference’s I’ll become more obvious. I plan on ordering one of these soon. It has a pleasing sound I like. I would not ask you go to the amount of work required to do a video. Thank you for the your response. 😊

LOL Robotussin is an awesome name 😝 Subbed. Indeed. It's difficult to find a decent review of this synth. Very cheap too, I almost couldn't believe it seeing just how many patch points it has. I was going to go for it but I'm leaning Proton lately. I have too many Behringer products as is though, but everyone knows that once you get the Neutron, you will be itching to assemble the rest of the atom. Even the super tiny synths Behringer will eventually release called "Up Quark, "Down Quark", "Charmed Quark" and so on. Just kidding, I'm going only for the most basic Classical Physics Bohr model of atom. Not sure I would even fall for P-meson or mu-meson. But they won't go as far as "electron" not to confuse with the one and only "EleKtron"? Will they? I just may get it if they do.

Dials Labs made a very good VST of the Polykobol, the one you where not yet aware of. It sounds so good it makes one wonder if the hassle of using a VST might still be worth it.

I do not care how aggressive B campaign are, as long they give me good quality product for low price. Unfortunately I had technical problems with K2 & CAT. I had also CRAVE that was just not enough for me and NEUTRON that was great in func but not intuitive enough after update (cryptic shortcuts). One that I really liked was TD-3 but Donner B1 is more easy to opperate. Now I gave Behringer last chance with KOBOL, as I love how quirky this synth is. Just simple SYNTH at first and very complex after u warp yr self around it. But I already experience some technical issues (again)... synth just got silent out of nowhere two times, when I was jamming yesterday. After reset it worked fine again. Nevertheless that gave me worries. Do u have experienced something similar?

I was thinking you could possibly take the noise out into the voltage processor input and then out again to the VCF audio in to mix up some noise in the patch since VCF audio in does not have a knob control

@robotussin_synths10 ай бұрын
In fact, I have never played with the Poly D. But it's poly and three-oscillator, so a very different synth. This has more versatility as you can patch the signal around but it's monophonic and only two oscillators.
