When I was in my 20s I worked for Xerox Corp on mechanical equipment, and I enjoyed the work very much. to see such a complex organized mechanical phenomenon being brought together, now that I'm in my 70s, is still kind of thrilling. Good work! :)

All that tech and a guy filling in a paper sheet log with tank level against a bulkhead with a ballpoint pen, super modern😂 good job it wasn't raining or job stopped for bad weather
@Johnboy335454 жыл бұрын
It's standard procedure and the logs are considered a legal document. Most of the middle and upper management were all keeping written notes throughout the project. Everything is controlled and monitored electronically of course but we all know that it can fail.

Hats off to the men and women that put all this together. Having to work on the fly to design and re-engineer as they go, a challenging task indeed. Natasha was absolutely stunning, what with her brains and beauty then at the end of the program she rocked that Zepplin sweatshirt... be still my heart ❤! The vessel was an exceptional feat of engineering as well.

No rolling when embarking and disembarking, but what about the trip from land to the rig and back in rough seas? Helicopters have no sea sickness in rough seas!
@felixcat93183 жыл бұрын
They do unfortunately lose their rotor head and shaft assembly at 2000 feet, have their entire tail rotor gearbox blown off the tail by a lightning strike mid flight, crash an landing, crash on take off, crash in transit to and from rigs, experience controlled flight into terrain (sea), experience gearbox failure in flight, ditch into sea, capsize on contact with sea, to name but a few...

Now you just need 1 trip. Materials and personal in 1 go. If the wind is blowing to hard your not allowed to fly aswell.

That's not fair the crew gets to fly in\out of Den Helder. We get crammed like sardines into the back of a shitty little Citroen mini bus from Schipol and half the time there is no trailer for our suitcases so they have to be stuffed in any leftover space in the bus. Also i must say what a Bloody Amazing piece of kit these walk 2 work Gangways are

This "documentary" is an obvious advertisement for a ship yard who only have build smaller ships before. They don't even have a building dock / dry dock. Every modern and seriouse shipbuilding yard has that. Therefor they just have to launch the ship sideways into the water - in a big splash. I guess they got the contract by taking a risk and offering the lowest building cost. There are many other yards/companies - and with much more resources - who could build such a ship. But that would cost more.....
@felixcat93184 жыл бұрын
The shipbuilders took on an outstanding challenge, to incorporate so many differing aspects into one compact vessel, and to complete in such a short timeframe. They fulfilled their obligations superbly, and have every reason to feel proud of their achievement! These were the only people capable of meeting all of the challenges, hence they built it.
@markknoop62833 жыл бұрын
The problem is that they dont have the technology to finish it.
