I stay in an Easy Hotel!
I completely forgot about these hotels and didn't realise they are still going! The same company behind Easy Jet and the Easy brand. This is a budget hotel with no frills!
But what's it like to spend the night in one? Let's find out!

I went to a wedding in milton Keynes in 2019 and needed somewhere cheap to stay. For £25 for the inside room, plus a fiver to look after my bag, you can't go wrong! I'd stay in one again, no hesitation. I spent more on the taxi fare heading back from the wedding to the hotel lol. I was in the room for about 7 hours. Worth it.

Stayed in two of these. One in London and the other in Amsterdam. As long as you see it as just a place to dump your stuff and sleep, they’re ok. Have to say though, the standard of cleanliness in the Amsterdam hotel was a cut above the London offering. And that’s not a window, that’s an arrow slit!

I've stayed in the one in Croydon many times. The lack of storage space is also my number one complaint. But overall, the concept works for me and I'll keep coming back. Amazing bed, nice shower head, good water pressure, good location, those are the main things I'm looking for in a hotel. I don't need to have my room cleaned every day and I'm happy living out of my suitcase for a week or so, especially when I'm paying half of what comparable "budget" hotels charge.

Hey Tim! I love your videos! My husband and I watch all the time! We live in the US and I love seeing all the different places we could stay when we ever get to come to the UK. On a side note, I am stunned that there are hotel rooms that dont have windows or very small windows. In the US its illegal for a habitable room to not have a window large enough to exit in case of emergency.

@handsoffmycactus2958

That is a very good point about the fire safety. You’d have to MAKE sure you knew how to get out, and I mean not just check the fire exits, I mean walk round and just weigh it up and look round. You never know, but if you look round and something bad happens your survival mode will kick in and all the stuff your subconscious picked up on will help you get help or get out.

I stayed in the Milton Keynes one a few months ago. The room was nearly identical to yours although the LEDs weren't under the bed. You mentioned how it felt like an office block - the one in Milton Keynes on d was an office block that they converted. I agree regarding the storage situation, it was annoying having to balance things on the rock hard headboard or put them on the floor, and everywhere was sound-proofed except the door, so I could hear everyone going through the corridor. In a way it's a pity Mount Eccles' Court Hostel in Dublin is no longer around because that would have made a terrific video back in about 2010! It was dirt-cheap, ten Euros a night in a dorm, but properly rundown. Doors that had clearly been bashed in at least once and barely opened anymore, very wonky steel bunk beds, lights barely hanging by the wires, bubbling, dirty brown lino in the showers, sockets falling out of the walls, everything. Judging by the web site they did do it up really nicely a few years later though. Budget accommodation in Dublin was interesting at that time. Stayed in four hostels, looked at another two I think, didn't like any of them. Other Irish cities had some absolutely amazing hostels though, I really enjoyed my trip!

Stayed in a few (6) of them, some better than others but usually pretty central, clean, comfortable and safe which is really all you need if just wanting a bed for the night. Functional and if you want a similar concept but with a bit more luxury, try Z hotels. Personally, since their refurbs, I've become a bit of a fan of Premier Inn for the usually small price difference.

I, actually like the concept of having to power on your room with a card. I think it’s an interesting and quirky thing to do and economically it probably saves them a bit on their electric bill.

Common in many hotels, but luckily you can just put your debit card or a clubcard in there or something and trick it into staying on all the time.

Stayed in the one near Paddington station back in 2016. Had a morning appointment at the old US embassy for my Green Card and wanted to stay close by in case there were any delays with same day travel. The hotel was very basic but served a purpose, and staying at a regular hotel would have cost double. Made it to my appointment and now a US citizen!

Haven't they rebranded to ConJet, instead of EasyJet, now? Also, I've never heard of an EasyHotel, like, ever. It's interesting, but really quite depressing that there's no cupboard or tea facilities in room.

When booking a room with window, do you have to pay extra? If so, I'd be asking for a partial refund 😅 but overall, for the price of the room can't really complain.

I stayed in the Easy Hotel on Edinburgh Princes Street, did pay for a window but got a fantastic view! The room was in effect the bay window looking out over Princes Street Garden at the castle. Yes it was mega tiny, you could pretty well sit on the loo and shower at the same time but ours was clean, bed was comfy and price was good -ok for a couple of nights 🙂

I stayed in the Croydon one a few times over the years. On two occasions the walk in shower was flooded all over the bathroom floor and at least once we had an early morning alarm call and had to exit the building between 6 and 7am as someone had (yet again) set off the fire alarm. Never again.
