I flew to Helsinki and drove up to Lapland via the west coast stopping at Vaasa and Oulu before staying at Kakslauttanen Artic Resort in the glass igloos. I did a quick stop at Roveniemi on the way through. Went east on the way back to Helsinki through Kajaani and Joensuu. Loved FInland, did the dog sled thing and even wrote off a snowmobile by crashing into a tree!.

16:16 That refers to the UN Happiness Index, Finland has topping the index for several years in a row now :) The history of Rovaniemi is less happy though, the town was completely destroyed in WW2 by German troops as a revenge. That's the reason you wont find any old buildings there.

Love this cabin you stayed in. I could be quite happy on holidays in there. A trip to the supermarket for a few food essentials and that would be much cheaper than the restaurants. I don’t mind cooking a main meal when I’m on holidays in this sort of accommodation. Go to a restaurant a couple of times in a week for a treat.

How beautiful! I would absolutely love to go to Lapland during the winter. I’m 25 and have never experienced a white Christmas in my life! It’s a shame about the TV placement, but the cabins were so snug and homely ❤

I consider Rovaniemi my 'spiritual home'. I first went there in the mid-60s after getting a pen-friend there (you're too young to know about pen-friends :) and I still know her to this day. I first went at Christmas and had reindeer walking past the window. I've also been there in midsummer when it stays light 24 hours. Funny thing is, when it's light like that you don't get tired. By the way, a sauna is one of the greatest experiences known to man, especially if you are in a place where you can go in and out and roll in the snow. Riding in a hot air balloon is the second greatest experience. Go find a ride!

The flight to Lapland was exciting even more so knowing where you were going. I like the fact you were wearing your Christmas Jumper before you got there, all prepared! Nice atmosphere in the Airport not too busy. The Bailey Hot Chocolate on the plane sounded a lovely start for the destination! I like the sound of getting Airport food aswell, I think it's a nice novelty! The morning view was lovely on the flight very enjoyable! Rovaniem sounds like the classic composer who wrote 'Rhapsody On A Theme! One of the few classical pieces of music I know! The frost on the ground & on the signposts looked scarily cold🥶that was lovely that walk to Lapland taking in every minute! How long did it take you to walk in to Lapland? I loved Lapland in the Sun! Loved the Balcony & your own Christmas 🎄 Beautiful clear sky's in the evening. The Table & Chairs on the Balconies are for the brave! I bet you sat there Tim you Hardy Person😂 I would of froze to the chair! Room was lovely I liked the Compact Kitchen! The Bed looked not as luxurious as I would of thought. The mattress didn't look very deep & it looked abit too soft & the pillows looked abit soft. I like quite a firm pillow but all still very cosy tho! The Sauna was the party piece!! I would of spent a few hours in my private sauna I love them & so nice not having to share with anyone else. I've only ever been in a public sauna it's not very relaxing! Really enjoyed that video Tim I'm all primed now to watch the Full Lapland Tour on Thursday! I can't wait to find out if you saw the Northern Lights 🎀✨🌌

Looks lovely and somewhere I'd like to visit too. If you want to go even further north look at Longyearbyen in Svalbard, which is much closer to the north pole. I went there a few years ago and you can take a boat trip (there are no roads outside of the town) to Ny Alesund, which I believe is the most northerly (public) town in the world. I don't think you can fly there direct from the UK though (I went via Oslo). Although independent exploration is not really possible there due to the risk of polar bears. (There is a lot of equipment, including guns, it is legally required to carry outside of towns, so you can only walk out of the town with guides that are suitably equipped).

Hi Tim, love the vid. I was wondering if you have ever stayed in Reykjavik. I had a week there just before Christmas and it was amazing. It got to -12 on some days but when we went out to see the northern lights on a boat it felt like -30 with the wind chill factor. If you have been have you stayed in the sand hotel by kea hotels. I thought it was a beautiful hotel. Just wondering if you have ever stayed there.

Yes saunas everywhere, also in private homes, though the trend now is to build fancy public saunas. The cost of electricity these days is one thing... BBC just published a story of the Finnish "sauna diplomacy" in the Finnish embassies around the world, also in London:)
