In the 29th century, rampant consumerism, corporate greed, and environmental neglect have turned planet Earth into a garbage-strewn wasteland; humanity is nowhere to be found and has been evacuated by the megacorporation Buy-n-Large (BnL) on giant starliners seven centuries earlier. Of all the binocular-eyed trash robots left by BnL to clean up, only one remains operational, Waste Allocation Load-Lifter: Earth-Class, or WALL-E, for short. One day, WALL-E's routine of compressing trash and collecting interesting objects is broken by the arrival of an unmanned probe carrying an egg-shaped robot named Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator or EVE, for short, sent to scan the planet for human-sustainable life. WALL-E is smitten by the sleek, otherworldly robot, and the two begin to connect until EVE goes into standby when WALL-E shows her his most recent find: a living seedling. The probe then collects EVE and the plant, and-with WALL-E clinging on-returns to its mothership, the starliner Axiom.

I think the reason that WALL-E takes so long to recover is because of how extensive the repairs had to be. In the beginning when his eye was broken and had to be replaced, it took a few seconds for the new eye to sync up with Wall-E's circuitry. But at the end, WALL-E is almost demolished with multiple parts in need of repair. So it took a few extra minutes for all those new parts to sync up with WALL-E.

I know what it's like to have been forgotten by someone you love... I was Wall-E... I lived with my girlfriend who changed over the years and I was alone. Waiting for the woman I loved to come back. Waiting for her to remember who she was when she loved me.. I could have left at any time.. Given up and gone home.. But I stayed. Every day I would tell her that I loved her. Every day, I looked after her and the house, her car, and the pets. I kept hoping that the good person she was would come back. I would see her from time to time. Peeking though the person she became. She was still in there.... -- She died in my arms of cancer this June.. I'd taken her to the hospital and I was there every day with her.. In the end, I got the "Quantum Leap" ending... -- I spent years holding my own hands like Wall-E and praying that things would change. Sometimes, there are no happy endings. Or redemption. (addendum :. "Quantum Leap" was a TV show from the 90s in which Dr. Beckett would leap from person to person, year to year, and put the wrong things right. The last episode, ends on a black screen with the words, "Dr. Sam Beckett never returned." --- Fans were in an uproar because all those seasons of waiting to see if he gets home, and we felt like we got gypped. --- It's only when you look back at it as an older person that you realize he made the right choice. That the hero's job, is never really done.) -- In my relationship, I felt cheated. That had there been more time, maybe the good person she was would have come back. In the last six months, I lost her, the house, I had to give our pets to the shelter... And now I'm truly alone. Just me and the ghosts. The memories of the happy and the sad. And I will always be haunted by the last image in my head of her laying in a very quiet room turning blue and cold in the dim light.. No matter how long we had, it wasn't long enough. And those last months flew through me like angry birds with razors..

WALL-E is one of my top 5 animated movies, it is so well done and thought out, and the credits sequence is beautiful, showing society literally starting and learning everything from scratch once again, and showing that while going through art's history. It's also not surprising how humans became like that. You get a cruise where you have to do nothing, just sit on a chair all day, watch stuff on a screen, people hand food over to you... many people already do that. Plus, the movie shows robots educating kids about stuff, so it's plausible that they kept many things from humans and only taught them what their directives told them to. I like the hopeful message of the movie. Because even though humans screw up Earth completely, there is still a small hope, represented by that plant, that we can fix things and live in harmony with our planet once again. (Btw trash is a huge issue, and incinerating it also pollutes our air and damages the planet even more. The answer would be to recycle and produce less trash with less plastic, but in reality we keep throwing trash in the sea, even nuclear trash, pretending it won't affect us when it will.

They tried incinerating the trash. Around the beginning of the movie, you can see large crane-like vehicles the size of buildings. These vehicles take trash from the tops of the trash mountains, and incinerate them. WALL-E's would build the trash towers, and the vehicles would incinerate it. The problem with the system was that it released dangerous amounts of carbon and toxins into the atmosphere, essentially sealing Earth's fate. It would take centuries for the Earth to become remotely habitable. Changing the topic here, I believe the reason the plant was able to grow on Earth was because it had only recently sprouted. Seeds contain compressed glucose that can feed a plant for days as it germinates. The reason it was able to last so long was because it was stored in a refrigerator, which likely preserved it.

This movie was prescient about people going around with their faces buried in screens, oblivious to the world around them. That's because at the time that it was being made, Steve Jobs was on the Pixar board, and of course, he had an iPhone before anyone else did, and he loved showing it off. When the director, Andrew Stanton, saw it, he knew right away that people would become addicted to it as soon as they had one, so he decided to incorporate that on a larger scale into his vision of the future.

the captain was born in the axion, so its quite obvious he won't have any idea what earth actually is like, all the humans that went aboard the axion in the first place are not alive anymore, everyone that lives in the axion was born in the ship and raised there

Might be late but thanks for catching the one little minute mistake they made of putting the plant into space, can't hate it since they put so much love and detail into the rest of the movie but glad you didn't miss it. AND HUGE thanks to watching the credits, its such a great wholesome follow up on its own.

I heard that what happened to the BNL President Shelby Forthright after that last transmission to AUTO was that there was a mob of humans outside and when he came out of the building, they killed him there on the spot. Pretty gruesome, but they omitted that from the final screenplay to make it more family friendly.

The language she say to WALL-E before saying "Directive" is Huttese, the fictional langauge spoken by most aliens and many humans including the namesake hutts in the Star Wars language including Greedo, Jabba the Hutt, Anakin Skywalker, Watto and Jango Fett. This is appropiate as Ben Burtt, the Star Wars sound designer and editor (of the prequels) were the sound designer of this movie and the voices for many of the robots including WALL-E and M-O.

You also mentioned that you worked at an incinerator for trash but there’s still islands of trash floating in the sea even with the incinerators. The Point is that there’s too much trash to keep track off and recycle. And most people are careless when it comes to the environment and getting rid of trash.

Johnny 5 from the Short Circuit movies. That first one came out when I was very small, like a toddler, so I didn't actually it until I was probably like a tween or something. I haven't seen it in years, but do they have similar head, and "feet" I think. Anyhow, I know Wall-E was such an amazing movie, made you fall in love with a robot, not even one that looked human, you still felt sad for him, and happy with him, and loved with him... it is a beautiful movie.

also one thing to notice is that Auto isnt really a bad guy there, hes not doing it out of evil intent, it was a command given to him, the man in the screen said to the auto pilot to assume command of the ship, and he was literally just doing that

WALL-E's girlfriend is called EVE which stands for Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evalutor, and refers to of course Eve from The Adam and Eve story from The Bible and the first woman on Earth. A running joke is that WALL-E most of the movie mispronounce her name as Eva instead of Eve. In the swedish dub EVE is called EVA since Eve in the bible is called Eva (other names are different but similiar in swedish Bible too, such as Jesus' mom Mary is called Maria), WALL-E's misprounoncation is actually correct in swedish (only english spoken words were dubbed, the original names like WALL-E and Ben Burtt's vocal effects remained the same). This probably the same other Norwegian and Danish dubs but it's just a guess.
