I found it to be the most annoying part for multiple reasons... and it drags on A LOT too. That's the main problem this game has. When the story keeps moving, everything's ok, but there's a lot of padding EVERYWHERE. And that will affect the overall experience because of all the progress you make with your weapons and materias. Will I have to upgrade them over and over again? Ugh, sorry, but this has been a mixed experience that I can't wait for it to end.

I actually think the new music for Wall Market makes a lot of sense given how the developers wanted to convey the place as a sort of Las Vegas for Midgar. The older "Oppressed" track suited the original Wall Market on the understanding it was just another slum area to explore.

The original Wall Market looks like a county street fair. The remake's Wall Market is based off of the luxury side of any city, not just Las Vegas. For example, the luxury side of Atlanta is called Buckhead

It’s interesting because this was a pretty controversial change from the original’s music… You’re right, this strikes me as “old school Vegas.” The old music kinda felt like “1920’s New York Italian mob.” More grimy and dingy. I think each theme fit its respective representation of Wall Market perfectly. They went in a slightly different direction in the remake and that’s ok.

SE created a such unforgettable journey of Wall Market with the lights, characters, mini games and all. The music is the icing to the cake. By far my favorite experience in the game. It was like a progressing drug trip that ended with you waking up in a sewer.

Chapter 9 was insane. Keep in mind that chapter starts from Cloud and Aerith running through the Collapsed Expressway, Clouds awkward High Five, the iconic playground scene, ALL of Wall Market (Battle Arena, Johnny adventures, Honey Bee Inn, etc.), and up to the entire Corneo Infiltration Mission! To say Wall Market was an experience in and of itself is selling it short. I almost dare to say this part alone justifies the full price of the game. It's that good.

Honestly, the new wall market musics really brings out the liveliness of the remake's wall market. Not to disparage the original wall market, cos that OST brought out the wall market as a really shady place, which kinda is. But the remake wall market, despite having it's shady side as in the original, is overshadowed by the liveliness of the clubs, restaurants, Chocobo Sam stable, Madam M's massage parlour, and Honeybee Inn. But definitely, one of the best OST addition to the remake. And I wouldn't mind an expensive hand massage with Madam M.

The old Wall Market felt thrown together using whatever material was available. In that aspect it matched the character of the rest of the slums. It felt like a summer church picnic with everything inside tents, food trucks, and shacks. The new Wall Market feels like a permanent market like open air markets of Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, The Temple Street Market in Hong Kong, or Pike Place in Seattle.

How can any original fan like this version? Wall Market was my favorite location in Midgar from the original with one of my favorite songs. This is the biggest change in the whole game, they turned the darkest and most sinister area into a comedic upbeat playhouse, the original theme is nowhere to be found except as a dance remix in the outskirts.

Treno lacks the vibes of a true sin city. It feels more like medieval las vegas for the nobles. While wall market is more like the melting pot for anybody so far away from God. Brothel? Check! Love hotel? Check! Gladiator arena? Check! Tho it has no gambling booth, but it controlled by a sugar daddy human trafficker. A sweet symptoms of a red lights district.

None of these live up to the original “The Oppressed” song that played in Wall Market. The feel of this area was the most changed compared to all of FF7 vs FF7R due to the radical shift in musical tone and caused me to dislike this area in the remake purely on music. I loved everything you do in this section but the loud, fast-paced bombastic and constantly shifting songs and tones really interfere with my ability to enjoy the area. Muting the music and playing the original track really elevates this section for me though 😉 but definitely put the music back on when you enter any Don areas, the music goes back to being fantastic.

Yeah, I agree. Couldn't they at least be more true to the original game? They changed a lot already. I think a lot of us would've been happier if they just gave us a true remake and not a "reimagine". Just the same game with some tweaks to the gameplay to make it more fun and harder. Maybe adapt stuff from the prequels/sequels. Up to date graphics and rearrangements and that was it. Pacing is terrible. They stretch a lot of sections just so you "play more" 🤦‍♀️.

It’s nice and everything… especially since you can see the plate up above, but this gives me FFXIV Egg festival vibes. The original Wall Market seemed a lot more seedier and just all around extremely poor. The people who lived there basically made their lives out of garbage. In this version, they made it like Midgar’s Vegas. I think that makes no sense because if it indeed was such an equivalent, then it would definitely be on the upper plate. I think they dropped the ball on the appearance of poor folks struggling to make ends meet. Wall Market was more of a shanty town, not this.
