Wall-Riding?! All Changes in Choco Mountain! | Classics VS Mario Kart 8 ANALYSIS

The Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been quite the success, so we’re looking back at All Changes and differences made for the returning courses in Wave 1 of the DLC. The third race of the Golden Dash Cup is N64 Choco Mountain. It’s part of a fog-covered massif, featuring a winding dirt road with many bumps and curves, a crystal mining cave ending with a glide over a collapsed bridge, and boulders falling from above to tumble across the path into the lake below. So how does the most recent update differ from past instalments? Let’s find out!

Possibly unpopular opinion: This is one of the best retro tracks in the Booster course pass, simply because of how much of a glow up it got from the original.

This track brought me so much joy and wonder when I first played it at a friend’s house on their 64 way back in the day. An entire mountain made of chocolate blew my mind. So glad Nintendo finally brought it back after all this time and gave it a modern look!

2:51 for context, that's because you're at a complete stop. once you reach a certain speed you get the ability to be hit by course hazards, it's an anti-softlock measure since if you remember wii's version of moonview highway, you could be hit repeatedly by different cars and squished, it's not physics

@@ilovemylips honestly that’s my favorite part of mk8 base game and the dlc. They add all these little details that most people don’t notice. For example in yoshi’s valley if you turn off the music in replay mode go up to yoshi you can hear him hum the yoshi island theme

When this course was first shown in the announcement trailer of the booster course pass, there were no cracks in the road where the boulders hit the ground. The course also looked a bit brighter compared to the final version.

This was definitely one of the better wave 1 tracks. Its so much fun to drive on. And the new looks and gameplay changes makes this an amazing glow-up course.

6:35 The Nintendo sign was already blue in the Japanese version of Mario Kart 64. It was changed in international versions, as well as the signs that were parodies of real brands.

Of the criticisms that arose with Wave 1 on the topic of textures, Ironically, the fact that the rocks, walls and the dream look like "plasticine" helps it look like chocolate, indirectly honoring the name of the circuit "Choco Mountain" xd

We thought so, too, but after some deliberation, we concluded that it's a good idea to do either, since this is in reflection of the Booster Course Pass as a whole. We're pretty sure that Rome Avanti is next, but we also know that Coconut Mall is a long-anticipated track to be analysed.

It seemed unnecessary since it's the same, only using a different soundfont. The offset cymbals are not drastic, but you can hear it in the background during the explanation.

Playing the original N64 version - the circuit is much tighter with less room for error. I used to hotlap this circuit all the time, and there is no room for error when trying to beat your best time. The new version for Switch looks totally different and easy. It's the approach Nintendo is taking unfortunately.

I honestly HATED this track in 64, every other version is better. The course is too bouncy, and it's way too easy to fall off and get screwed over. Also you need to play 4th to move on.

When I was a kid my first ever Mario Kart game was Mario Kart Ds what is still one of my favourite Mario Kart games like Mario Kart Wii too. Sadly I don't remember much how Choco Mountain looked on a Nintendo Ds Mario Kart Ds version but I've been test played Mario Kart 64 on a Nintendo Switch Online + expansion pass and played many times Choco Mountain on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and somehow in my opinion original 64 version of Choco Mountain still looks surprisilly good and even better than a new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe version but I like both of corse. But after seeing this video, I like THE MOST Ds version. Mm Chocolate is good, I will eat chocolate today yam! ⛰️🏔🪨🍫
