The ending was so perfect for me. I was in the third run (the last one before the Boss inevitable kills you) with 5 seconds before he shows up. And right then and there I got to the top.

Have you ever noticed that the crawling Zyrex emerge from the wall's surface? (you can see it, when you force them to spawn next to you because you are close to the wall's edge) It might mean that the wall is alive and some form of zyrex lifeform, with the zyrex being some kind of immune response against an infestation of humans on its "skin". Like a rash or something.

Yeah, there are log files which say that those spacemen kept zyrex inside the wall as specimen of an alien life form, thus you can find tanks with goo deep inside the caves
