Splendid - absolutely splendid. Flat balls - runners changing the angle of the ball at pace - long passes-short passes-neat passes - brilliant reactions - pace in the outside channel...........what could be simpler? Thank-you Geoff Mould of Matraville High School and Australia Schools who started it all. Saw the Australian Schoolboys in 1981 - captain Steve Tuynman, coach Alan Thomas - to this day, the best rugby team I have ever seen.

What a succession of incredible back lines we had in that era. Some of the handling and passing would put some modern players to shame.

Totally agree.thought the same myself

Game was very different in those days. It was slow and defense systems was disorganised. No doubt the handling and passing was there but passing and catching has since evolved. Wayne Smith has revolutionised the passing game and every player must learn how to pass both ways

Back in the days when you didn't get put out of the Australian back line for quoting the Bible. Such great names, like Ella, Farr-Jones, Campo, Lynagh, O'Connor, Hawker, Gould and the icing on the cake ... Gordon Bray calling it all.

Those were great world class wallabies. Was fortunate to see some of those players in tour NZ. Rugby was alot more entertaining and a spectator sport then. Professionalism has not improved the game.

When rugby was an exciting, running game, look at all the space, we need to reduce the number of players to13 or even 12, and bring back the good old days of running rugby!
@MrSilverfish124 жыл бұрын
they can still play like this. But players today are too damn selfish

I agree with removing at least one flanker to 14 men. I also think that the remaining flanker can engage on whatever side of the scrum they choose, this could open up the set piece scrums to some exciting plays.
