4 really lovely fit horses. But oh that Chestnut! My heart belongs to Sharpie. I can't help it. The shape of his jumps has changed so much since the beginning. Also the shape of his body. really appreciate your commentary here about the differences in rideability for horses between lessons/schooling and actual competitions. that's a big struggle with my horse, who can be a bit of a slug in our lessons but then will basically just take off with me at a show. i wish it was easier to find ways to practice with him when he's running so hot.....

how interesting! I've always liked watching eventing, but am hesitant last years at how they are built, asking too much of the horses, sometimes leading to injuries. But that has nothing to do with your vid, I really enjoyed how you showed your horses and how you explained everything, thanks for uploading and thank you for taking us along. Do you remember the first time you did a cross country jump? If so, was it completely different than a normal jumping course? ( any one can answer lol) i might join pony club and they do cc there and im kinda nervous

The only difference for me was running in a field vs in an arena, the jumps feel the same at the lower levels. My old horse was a lot more energetic during cross country but the more flat work we did for responsiveness and calmness the better it got! Have fun!!

My first cc jump was actually on my horse that I started (so it was her first cc jump as well). I came from a show jumping background and so did my horse so frankly I didn’t know what to expect so I was nervous as well. As it turned out my horse absolutely loved cc. To me the only way it was different than a regular course was that my horse was way more excited and amped up because she got to jump cc. Every horse can be different outside the arena, so you should be aware of that and you may have to adapt your riding accordingly. But if it’s through pony club then they will for sure take care of you and if you’re nervous then let them know (I loved my days in pony club!!!!). They know to take things a step at a time. Personally I love cc and I’m so happy that I tried it. So if you have the opportunity, I would recommend at least trying it once. And let us know if you do try it!
