Even if it's only a couple years I really wish they would give a guaranteed minimum update time frame for security fixes. It sounds like we could expect up to 3 years of security patches but it isn't in writing.

I think it's great that Lon isn't a technology snob and reviews the "el cheapo" computers with the same rigor as any other device...always keeping the value proposition within view. Others will do nothing but rag on something like this, losing sight of the low price tag and target audience/use cases. The truth is, these things have gotten a whole lot better in the last few years, and they're more than adequate for almost every mainstream task. I'm probably a similar age to Lon and that last comment about his old Apple ][ costing his parents a small fortune is something I can really relate to, and I think about that often as well. Young Boomers/ALL of Gen X/Older Millennials will have the most unique perspective on personal computers (good and bad) ever! That being said, I now wonder if this thing can run Dolphin smoothly :-)

I mean hell, most big name tech reviewers on KZbin have entirely DROPPED the budget segment from their channels entirely, and a lot of them have already dropped the mid range as well. Lon and Chris Barraclough from Tech Spurt are the only "people's reviewers" that I can still think of from memory. Everyone else just reviews the biggest most expensive stuff. Even Lisa Gade from MobileTechReview fell down that trap.

This is the 2024 version. Yes, it is 2025. But released last year. When people put 2025 version, normally it's just to indicate the year of release and not the year of sale. Just sharing an opinion, glad to see you killing it with the reviews though.

I have an older 11" Onn Tab Pro. I believe that it is from 2021. In many ways it is so much better than a Fire tablet. Just understand that there aren't any updates, ever. I think that, when on sale, the Lenovo tablets offer far better specs and cost just a little more than either the Onn or the Fire. I always just added Google to my Amazon tablets. That's becoming a problem and Google Play Protection Certification is the issue, not Amazon. It's not as simple as adding a few files anymore. I'm looking for a replacement for the Onn and the Fire. It will probably be a Lenovo.

I've been wanting to send my elderly mom a tablet with MP3 music files and MP4 video files (movies/TV shows) for her to enjoy. She doesn't have (or want) internet. Is there a good way to set up something like this for her using the available storage (64 gb) and the SD card slot??? I'd want to only have music and movies options on the screen for her (to simplify). Is there an app that would be easy to train her on (over the phone conversations)??? Thanks for your help. .Love your channel.

I need an 11 x 17 tablet for 2-up music scores. Musicians would benefit from this. One page tablets exist but are clumsy to use, needing foot pedals for page turns because they happen at inappropriate times. One noname tablet I bought was so loaded with bloatware apps that could not be uninstalled and that flooded the screen with ad popups at a level to render them unusable.

Typical of manufacturers making what would appear to be better but they strip other things back. You get a better screen....and they removed hardware (GPS) and it basically is back to entry level. Were they so afraid of people not wanting to pay $149 or something!!?!?? 1/2 the FPS and half the score on the GPU / CPU test from the 2023 model. Such a shame! 4GB ram these days?!?

I've been looking at the 12.1" to replace a 10 year old Surface Pro 3 that is only used for web browsing. I hope they don't make the next update on the 12.1" worse than the current model.

Not a 480 P up very often what you’ll see is that people come up to look of the display of organic organic memory as far as the stand has an angle for the display

@@TooFurious4 you would have to have a tablet with a 4K screen to avoid transcoding. This tablet is not 4K.

Looking up the chipset (QUALCOMM snapdragon 685) , it does say it does say it has GPS , so I wonder why it isn't enabled on this tablet?? I wonder if there would be a way to enable it?

The chips said, enables come the second they come to the secondary chip. Also, it has a level to catch the catches, not seen a member of them by memory damage memory chip.

The problem with the cost of Walmart's devices is that, unlike other brands and especially like Amazon's devices, the Walmart regular price is the only price you can buy them for. They never go on sale. The true price of a Fire tablet is effectively half or just a little more than half of its list price since Fire Tablets go on steep sales every few months as do other Android tablets. That makes Walmart tablets much more expensive than comparable Fire or other Android devices by a fairly wide margin.

This product has an embedded intelligent nerd roach instead of a chip for the price. The only problem is you may become attached to your roach and set her free. Then it’s not functional. Now you still would need an ipad.
