The Walmart I worked at a few years ago had more cameras than a prison it didn't stop any shop lifters and they'd be long gone B4 the cops would show up. They'd be back the next day returning shit without receipts . But an employee stole deodorant don't ask me why he couldn't afford it because they were paying us 18.00 an hour this was right after the pandemic hit in 2019 or so but they saw that and fired him but the people walking out with carts full of TV's and baby clothes would be there again the next day. So I wonder why or how these cameras will help.

Usually when people use excuses like "public safety" and a "safer environment", it means they want more control and the only safety that they care about is theirs. This will only lead to more surveillance and the only people that i see benefiting from this are employees

Walmart should concentrate on ADA laws. Not enough handicapped carts for handicapped customers at most locations. Products such as dairy is very hard to retrieve from those carts without assistance. Isles have obstacles and difficult to pass through on busy days. Don't even get me started on trying to get around in clothing departments with the handicapped cart without knocking over racks of clothes. Also, so many items on upper shelves makes it difficult to retrieve when you have mobility issues preventing you to get up and down, to reach or even look up. Also need to follow ADA guidelines and create handicapped self check out lanes. Do you realize how hard it is to maneuver those carts, let alone pull items from cart, scan them, bag them etc while sitting in a handicapped cart? Try it Walmart executives, I double dog dare you to fix these problems first. DO BETTER WALMART, DO BETTER. 😢

I think the brief few times it may be beneficial for retail interactions makes bodycameras unnecessary but the lengthy and daily interactions teacher/professors have with children and young adults is more than needed and even moreso than police.
