Thanks Ginger- this was a super helpful video. I love your enthusiasm and of course your price comparison knowledge. My Walmart is usually disappointing in-store but i have gotten great deals online with them- especially with Puzzle and their Mainstays cotton/acrylic. The Mainstays cotton acrylic is so much nicer than the peaches and cream and i like the longer yardage and its so much softer on my hands and it washes up great. you were in your element-- excellent job!

You have a Walmart with a good variety. My Walmarts would only have ⅓ of what you have shown…and usually empty shelves…They seem to get one shipment a quarter and it is gone in a few weeks. The peaches and cream shelf is how my shelf’s typically look. The peaches and cream cones are a great price…again if you can get them…have to stock up when I can find them.

I have spent tons of money on Walmart yarn. My favorite yarn by far is I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby. It is the softest. I have just about every color they offer.

I was just mentioning to hubs yesterday I haven't taken the time to check out any new yarn at Walmart the last couple of months. I've bought a lot of my lion brand there. The mainstay basic colors were 2.96 last time I looked, and were 1.69 a year ago. At this point I'm thankful I'm a yarn stasher and NEED very little! 😉

The last time I went to Walmart, the yarn aisle was pathetic! Maybe a third of what yours has there, and very low stock. But the selection is a bit better online. Thanks for the in depth information on all the yarns. It's harder to tell looking at it online and I'm always afraid it won't be soft!

Your Walmart Carry's a lot of different Colors then the one by my house. I haven't look at any other Walmart in my town. I'll Now I think Maystay is a little softer the Red heart that just me. I buy my Yarn at Walmart bcuz it is Cheaper N you get more Yards for you money. Then are carrying a lot of Lion Brands Yarns Which I love. 👋Everyone start buying some Yarn at your Local Walmart. The Big Twist is there because someone definitely did a return. Since WM online is also a portal for 3rd party sellers (like Amazon does), Big Twist is in their item file. You'd be surprised the things that end up at the return desk and are accepted.

Hi Ginger! I purchased from Joann’s Caron Colorama Halo OGO yarn in Bluestone Frost. Beautiful yarn. I made a scarf using the half double crochet herringbone stitch. I used 10mm for chain of 110 and switched to 9mm for body of scarf. It is absolutely beautiful! Easy to work with, easy to frog. I’ll definitely be buying more of this yarn.

We have 5 Walmarts near us. 3 are smaller and 2 are Super Walmarts. I go to one more often and sometimes I forget the other 4 exist 😂 But I usually find more yarn at the smaller stores and more yarn accessories at the larger stores. Mainstay #4 yarn is really nice. I just get mad when they change colors for the season and the one or two yarns that were my fave get discontinued 😂

My Walmart has a good selection, sometimes you can’t get all the colors you need for a project. Be patient, it keeps replenishing. The Pima cotton is a dream to use. The mandala big cakes sold out right away, because the price was so good.

If you live I in the mid east, check you Meijer store. Prices are about the same as Walmart plus they have a lot of discontinued yarns hanging out on the shelves.

Hobby Lobby's I love this yarn is only 3.49 EVERY OTHER WEEK and it has 355 yd, and is the best quality acrylic by far

Now, I know I'm gonna sound snobby. The needles and hooks are excellent for beginners. Except for the circular needles. For that, I honestly would suggest the knitters pride that they sell at hobby lobby mainly because the cords are much easier to deal with. I have not bought anything crafting or yarnie related from Walmart in a long time, but what it looks like is that much of the supplies are either plastic or metal, and some people might actually like the feel of bamboo or wood or even acrylic. Regarding the yarn, I also haven't bought any from Walmart in such a long time with the exception of some cotton yarn for household items. However, you can use the scrubby yarn with a cotton to make a wonderful scrubby dishcloth that is so much easier to make than just with the scrubby yarn alone. Edit: yes I am a metal girl when it comes to my needles, and yes I do believe that the needles there are decent for beginners. It's just the cord on the Boyd circulars are too stiff.

Totally get paying a lesser price but I sometimes feel that it’s better to pay more to keep specialty stores around. Unfortunately Walmart keeps putting smaller specialty stores out of business. No joke a guy who mixed my two paint buckets had two diff shades slightly off. He said “it’s close enough right?” I thought he was kidding and he was not. He didn’t know that they had to be exact. It’s nice to goto places where the people who work there know and have interest in the things they sell. Walmart employees literally will say “I don’t know” and walk away when asking what aisle something is on.
