great, how you take advantage of the imperfection of mounting them one by one, instead of strips 👌🏻

The inlays was a very clever idea and looks great

They were actually an afterthought to hide some minor misalignments in the squares! LOL!!

You are more of an artist than wood worker. Your creativity is on another level. I love the outcome

thanks, although these really are very simple to do!

I am laughing so hard right now! That was brilliant! I love the chessboard too! Nice job!
@BrainFizz6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Not really looking forward to making the pieces though...... Jamie left me a scrollsaw patten for some! LOL!!!!

It was hilarious. I am so relieved that you didn't start with growing your own tree for the wood.
@BrainFizz3 жыл бұрын
I don’t even know what that means.

@@BrainFizz it means great job - both at humor and woodworking

BrainFizz that would be funny, I'm sure you should definitely do it.

Looks great, and a funny one too. Now Jamie needs to get on the lathe to make the pieces for it.
@BrainFizz6 жыл бұрын
He may already be on it.... although he left me some scrollsaw patterns for chess pieces........not sure why!!
@JimDockrellWatertone6 жыл бұрын
Haha, he is trying to get you hooked.
@BrainFizz6 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm it may have indirectly worked.... he gave his old scroll saw to cat, and I’ve used it since we got back, I even have a scrollsaw video coming out soon!
@jimmilner29613 жыл бұрын
I am thinking you have done this before? Very nice!

Bwahahahaha,😂 I'll second what Badger Workshop commented, looks great 👍 Who woulda thunk it? Fimo on a chess board...

Thirded :)
@BrainFizz6 жыл бұрын
LOL! You just have to watch out for the base moving from the heat in the oven, and also the chances of it delaminating are fairly high..... i put it on the lowest setting i could for the least amount of time to bake the limo, then let it cool slowly. there was only minimal movement - i think i was fairly lucky!
@SMee676 жыл бұрын
BrainFizz, wonder if it would be better to use the heat activated glue, like on the edge laminating strips? Was waiting for you to Frisbee the board at him when he said he didn't feel like playing chess any more.... Hahahaha Did you make chess pieces, or you already have a set?

Where do u get the maple and walnut scraps
@BrainFizz3 жыл бұрын
they're left over from other projects, mainly from my normal hardwood suppliers - if you only want small bits though, eBay can be a good source, as can woodturning blanks.

As I said, very cool chess board !😊
